You had the crowd...

You had the referee...

But you didn't have the team!

What's going on in that picture, some sort of mating ritual?  Why would that need a referee?

Its real sport SOB, you know that thing where you don't stop every 15 seconds for a rest, where you don't dress up in padded gear and helmets, and don't swap your team over every other minute ;)

Oh, and where a World Cup really means teams from other countries actually play!

My thoughts exactly! -And a man dressed up as a humbug appears, blowing a whistle, waving his arms, and (occasionally) throwing a yellow handkerchief onto the pile of men as they rest!

BTW - I really did LOL when I read that! :lol

Don't continue to try and confuse them.  That could be cricket, rugby or (real) football.:D

It's ok. In America, sports are designed with commercial breaks in mind. Can't go 45 minutes without seeing a few mindless 'messages' can we? :D

It was a good game. Thought we might have stole it back in the end 5 mins.

What I find funny about Americans and sport is that they know nothing of other games like Rugby, Cricket even though these games are played in many different countries around the world. But when they stage a sporting contest of a game played only in the USA, they give it a grandiose title like "World Series".

:rofl

Toronto, last I checked, is not in the USA.

And folks think that Americans are geographically challenged.

The "World Series" is so named because the newspaper that sponsored it called itself The World.

LOL HMcG - just checking to see if you were paying attention! I should have said "America". How many non-USA teams play in the "World" Series? Am I right in thinking it's.... 1?
