Turn off HO
« on: November 20, 2005, 12:07:34 AM »
please turn them off, would change the whole game. for the better.

In AW ya couldn't HO. and it worked great IMHO

Stop it here, its ruining the game.

I never ***** about this game because I luv it, but HO's are beyond belief.
I used to be able to avoid ho's but since one plane after another does it ya can't evade them all.

9 out of 10 deaths are from HO's.

I respect the furballers alot more than the HO'ers at least they kill with skill.
Don't mind the uppin IL2 at a porked base doin it cause its expected.
or any other plane upin from a damaged base.

But everywher ya fly now it's friggin demolition derby, get killed by HO or rammed by them.

Thank G-D for FSO

You sound like one of the whiners who thinks any vaguely frontal shot is an HO.

Even accounting for that your exagerate monstrously.

And after all that you suggest that something completely gamey be put in that distorts air combat.

Agree with Karnak. I go for the HO a lot when I'm in a plane with heavy frontal firepower and can't manuver too well (190 with 4 20mms, f4ui1, 110C/G, sometimes 109 with 30mm) and it's not so easy to land a HO. Hell I never hit a HO under 400d. If it's a off-angle frontal shot, I can hit at farther ranges but it's still odd to do it consistently **when the other pilot evades*. Even simple evasion makes HO impossible and makes frontal shots hard/suspect at best.

If you're dying 9 out of 10 times in a HO, STOP TAKING THE HO!!

EDIT: Today in MA I got HOed by 4 consecutive planes in a row. They had a line going and all of 'em tried to get me. I wasn't even evading and they didn't hit squat.

and how are we gonna kill bombers head-on now lol.  head on shootings on bombers happened in WWII and lots of elite german reich defenders scored kills on b17s and 24s

I have mixed feelings about this. In 1 aspect, in real life you can hit an aircraft from any angle and would definatley suck fighting bombers. On the other hand I feel it's brought the "dogfight" to an almost nonexistant state. 95% of the MA HO...then are clueless as to what to do next. It's really brought the fighting skill in the game down. And my personnal pet peeve, fighting a 4vs1 and they HO every pass:lol Just kinda sad and you can't always dodge them all.

Hi,

is it possible that here the typical B&Z, which often lead to somewhat a HO, if the lower plane follow the high one up,  get criticized???

A normal HO easy can get avoided, but i often got blamed when i made a HO after a stallturn while B&Z, when the enemy was hanging on its prop, not able to bring the guns to my direction.

Thats not one of the 'stupid' a HO´s!!! Cause in this moment i know that the enmy cant move anymore.

Who get shot down by a HO simply made a mistake!

Btw, if i remember right Mr.Bong made 50% of his kills while HO´s!

i TOTALLY agree with doobs. Many things have gotten out of control in this game. It seems like all this game is about anymore is getting kills and **** perkies. There is almost no courtesy anymore. RARELY will you get a fair fight.

Trying to avoid the HO is very hindering. Taking in to consideration that most of the HO player on here are flying the LGAY-7, and those LGAYs can turn fast enough so that when you break off the HO there went your tail, or guese what now thier on your 6. And its an LGAY so you know he can turn with your spit at this high of speed.

This ho fest is beginning to do more than just annoy me. i dont want to fly for more than 5 minutes over to a base, and then find myself staring down a LGAY, we all know hes gonna HO (most of them do) so i have 2 choices. I can recieve an go with it, and in which case i would die, or loose my engine/oil. I could break off the ho, in which case i would (since this is a low speed ho) either loose some parts of my plane, or i would now have a LGAY on my 6.

and BTW karnak, get to know the guy, b4 you call him an unejucated bastage. he knows of what he speaks. this also isnt a flight sim, its a ****ing game. in which stuff is blow out of proportion.

ToadKill,

He made bald faced, false statements in order to advocate a faulty position.  I will call it like it is and that is that.

You add "Star Trek" shields to the frontal aspect of aircraft like they had in AirWarrior.

Its pretty easy to avoid the HO 99% of the time. Just do a barrell roll as he prepares to fire, then extend as he passes. Or, if you feel aggressive, do a roll a shade earlier, so he tracks all over trying to hit you -- and as you reach the level again (ideally about 0.5 sec before you pass him), pull up to loop over the top. He'll ahve blown alll his E trying for the shot and you'll be able to drop on his 6 without much trouble.

I'll take any shot I think I can make. It's just that simple. In some situations, typically many vs few, or if it's an MG-armed plane, I'll try for a frontal shot if I think I'll survive. If it looks like my opponent is setting up for one, I will not hesitate to go nose-on and fire. I get a brand new plane if I lose, and a kill if I win. Pretty good deal, if you ask me.

You are correct, and I was way off my intended thought,
HO's I can live and deal with its the intentional ramming thats got my goat.

I know this sounds like backpedaling
But I was stuck on stoopid at the time and didn't clearly think out what I wanted to say.

my last line on org post in AH demolition derby, which I hope gives some
indication of what I was  trying to say, even though I wasn't anywhere near my mark.
