Why don't the Emil's have drop tanks?...They did have them though they were made of plywood and tended to leak..would like to see them.

The BoB era E-4s (and converted E-1s and E-3s) did not have DTs. Once the E-7 was introduced some E-4s were upgraded to E-7 standard (DTs).

But those E4s were no longer E4s, they were upgraded in the engine department, too, and became E4/Ns or E-7s.

No they weren't. The DB601N required C2 / C3 fuel. Not all E-7s had the DB601N engine either. There were also E-4/Ns with the DB601N (with out Dts).
