allied totals: 254 kills, adjusted to 166 ftr kills (88 buffs)  204 deaths

109e -  8 kills 55 deaths
109f - 57 kills 60 deaths
202 - 56 kills 87 deaths

axis totals: 121 kills 202 deaths.

allied fighters had a 45 kill plus count over axis fighters. seems you guys did alright.  saw and had to run from plenty of higher allied fighters.

the thing about 109f's after they took away the gondies it was impossible to get a quick kill and spits and hurris are manueverable as hell, so while we're trying to pick away at them, flying smart, plenty of higher allied fighters keep arriving.  i'll take 2 or 4 hispanos vs 1 20mm anyday.

hehe ok i stand corrected. was just my perception from our squads eyes, didnt realise how many of you lot we killed.

109e really did that badly??

The Bf 109E-4 pilots were at a big disadvantage in this one.  The 109E-4 is substantially slower than the Spit V.  It is even slower than the Hurri IIC above 22.5k, where we did have lots of fighting.  Of course, the Spit, F4F, and Hurri all handily outturn it.  So, flying the Bf 109E-4, you could often be in a situation where better-turning aircraft could also easily catch you -- a tough spot indeed.

Still, I'd be happy to fly a Bf 109E-4 if we get to rerun Malta with sides switched.  I like that scenarios have a mix of aircraft, not all of them equal in performance.

I salute the pilots of the 109E-4, as theirs was one of the toughest jobs.

I'm in for the rerun.
January have 2 weeks in Hawaii, but will participate all I can.
88's 87's, E's, F's, 202's, makes no difference.
Just want to fly scenario from other side.

fully understood brooke, my post was more out of suprise at only 8 kills for 55 deaths, thats quite a number, than trying to put them down.

S! to all axis pilots. 202s did very well though, i would have thought a single 20mm is still better than those mgs. they did of course have the advanage of speed.

if the axis never even  bothered to even roll the 109e's, they'd have a pretty convincing victory.  i early on, after frame 1,  advocated a point decrease for the 109e's.  ah, well.
Surrounded by suck and underwhelmed with mediocrity.
I'm always right, it just takes some poepl longer to come to that realization than others.

The ALLIES could have just PARKED the spits once they landed on MALTA from the CV's and saved a ton of points also.
