Training Arena and Bombing

I think that in the TA, the bomber should be given the option to to start at 5,000ft, 10,000ft, 15,000ft and 20,000ft.

It takes no skill to auto climb to a chosen altitude only to have 30 seconds to drop then just land.  I don't find the point to take a 40 minute flight to climb and get to your target to have only 1-2 drops.

this time is more effective if we start at say a chosen 15,000ft, fly to a target and focus on your training.  The same 40 minutes is needed for 4 seperate runs at a chosen altitude instead of 1 with time waisted.  Efficient time for training is better and real life simulation is better in the MA.

it would make a good offline option
best you can do offline is change wind setting to get you up high real quick
but im not sure it works with bombers as ive only done it in fighters

or you can make your own map with a few simple bases from 5-25k.

Why go through the programming riggors of a new map when it is simply command prompts to be added when in the TA?

Because then the map would have to be changed.

Go offline, set ammo to Max (think this would give you more bombs too, not sure?), load the smallest bombs (most in number), load the map with the 10k base, climb 5k and set .salvo 1. You should be able to practice hitting a spot for quite awhile.

Choose a 10k base, then spend 10 minutes climbing to 15k.  Still time wasted.

Dropping 1 bomb 1 run at a time is not realistice in the MA, why spend that time practicing in the TA like that?

Start the training at your choice alt and adjust course and go into it.  Why are we spending valuable time doing things that don't need practice?

Make a map, it takes all of 10 minutes to create a simple map with several bases and a few strat targets. Its not that difficult.

Ya it doesn't make much sense climbing to alt when most bombers end up dive bombing at 50 feet anyway:rolleyes:

All for the altitude starts.

In the meantime:

Practice Offline and give yourself a verticle wind until you are at the alt u want, then turn it off.  Works like an escalator.

Go to Arena Settings while OFFLINE and set the wind so it's blowing full blast UPWARD.

IIRC it's 127.

Set the layer between 0 and 20,000 to 127 upward.

Take off in your buffs.

Climb like a 163 to 20k.

Bomb.

Also, you don't really need to drop a bomb to see if your calibration was accurate. If the black +, your calibrated impact point, matches your green +, the impact point your calibration is OK. It doesn't have to be exacly spot on and overlapping but very close and your good. Arena settings will determine if you see the green impact + mark.

http://www.furballunderground.com/freehost/files/1/funmap1.res

I have no idea if this map works. But it took me all of 5 minutes to create. LOTS of "Programing" as you said was involved here.

If it doesnt work, then thats too bad. :)
