European makeover, one person at a time.
« on: November 23, 2005, 04:04:34 PM »
I know there are a few folks here on the board that either are or have been in CAS competitions (cowboy action shooting).  I was reading their BBS today, and got a real kick out of reading a post from one of the newest members, starting up the sport in Poland.  By next year they'll be sponsoring cowboy shooting competitions probably in 2 cities.  Members actively compete from England, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Canada, Germany and God knows where else.  And now Poland.  I read through some of what this guy has gone through to make this happen.  I just thought I'd take the time to pass it on here, some of them DO "get it" over there in Europe.  And their numbers are growing.

Here's to folks who still like to play Cowboy!

I have never met an immigrant to the U.S. that did not want to participate or was not allready participating in.... the gun culture.

What we see on this BB is the guys who are jealous of the U.S. and filled with hate.   The ones that come here enjoy the American experiance in every way.

Often.. at the range.. there are 10 different accents from friendly, former socialists and commies all out enjoying firearms and trying to make themselves understood..  lots of smiles and friendship.

I work very hard to make sure that I understand them and appreciate their efforts to speak english...  on the other hand...

If some, so called American, speaks gthetto ebonics at me... I ignore em.

I am glad to see the cowboy action sport spread to other countries... it is a good shooting sport for competitors and spectators... A really good way to have a positive message about firearms and destroy myths in countries that have no idea what guns really are.

Guns.

Things that, when you put harmless looking little thing into metal container, then push into gun thing, go BOOM if you pull the little dial thing after moving the top thing one way or the other.

Once boom goes, little harmless thing splits in two. First part goes cling-a-ling on concrete floor, other thing turns invisible and punch holes in things that are in its way - if it is strong enough. Otherwise other thing is stopped by things in the way.

If thing in way is human, human get hurt or killed unless very strong or has a thing between human and other thing. Other thing that comes out of gun has no idea if thing in way is human. Other thing just wants to go fast

I live in a socialistic country. Am I close?

I just checked out the website for"little Britain"

most of the women are guys, and most of the guys are gay and/or crippled in some way.

I fear that even cowboys and guns cannot break through this desease. :lolhttp://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/littlebritain/

Thats ok, you can be elected to the honorary club.  You get the secret decoder ring and a badge.  We just arent allowed to put the pointy pin on the back of the badge for fear someone might get stabbed with it.

I got a kick out of the "Arizona Rangers" of Norway.

Kind of cool to see all those different societies getting into the American cowboy thing.

Come to think of it, I think they make better cowboys than most of the americans I've met.

you have to know a bit about british culture to enjoy little britain.  basically they are taking the piss out of every single bit of british society.  i doubt an outsider would 'get it'.

and yes, that is english, although they put on a lot of accents.

Shooting old wheel guns is an absolute ball.

So little money and time .. so many guns I don't have and wish I did.

Laz is 100% correct.. every trip to the range is a dip in the original melting pot of a young and healthy american society. Those poles, slovaks, brits and such I run into down there are the same guys that'll actually fight to stay free. They already risked everything to get here, they have a better connection to the American Promise than most native americans do.
The price of Freedom is the willingness to do sudden battle, anywhere, any time and with utter recklessness...

...at home, or abroad.
