I do not consider the M family to be mass-produced, per se. I consider them more an after-market type of car as they are modified from a base version. And it does cost quite a bit more.
If you go into the after-market, things can get really wicked in a lot of automobile lines.
I did mis-speak about the Nissan 3.5 though. I meant the Lexus 3.5 litre which is good for 306HP (only version available right now). The Nissan 3.5 is good for 298HP.
Specifically though, the IS250 and 350 are designed to compete against the BMW330 and 330Ci.
In a nutshell:
Honda S2000: 110.2HP/litre (2.15 litre 4)
Lexus IS350: 87.4HP/litre (3.5 litre V6)
Infiniti G35 Coupe/Sedan: 85.1HP/litre (3.5 litre V6)
BMW330 Sedan: 84.9HP/litre (3.0 litre 6)
I threw the Honda in for giggles, but the other three are priced to compete against each other. The price of the M3 puts it out of competing against the others. We go after-market on all of them and they all get pretty scary.
Anyway, I was targeting these quotes from you:
Even m54 with 2.5l generates what...183 hp?Enyone else can match that without dentist machine RPM or turbo/superchargers?
That engine produces 73.2HP/litre.
Best engine output has BMW.Mercedes(and everybody else)has to install supercharger to get the same horsepower.
