Actually Emmo was a Brazilian.  Phil Hill was the first US WC, for Ferrari in 1961.  I met him once.

319 WRC champs, we are in big trouble!  Of course Finland has zero Silver Crown sprint car champs.

PS I am going to USGP at Indy.

 Staga,
With all due respect, there are many more things to do in USA then in Finland.
Two most popular sports here are almost unheard of in Europe. There are many things americans do that are not done in many other places (like executing criminals  ).
So I would not be surprised if car racing was much less popular here then in Finland or running was less popular then in Kenya or hokey was less popular then in Canada.
So there is no reason to expect us to have "106 F-1 Champs and 319 World rally champs."

As a matter of fact, the favorite pastime of Americans is making money. If you look at the list of top 10, 100, 500 etc. richest people and especially if you select among them people who made their fortunes themselves, not inherited, you would probably see many americans and few europeans.
We are quite good at things we put our mind to...

And how many Finns have been both IndyCar and F1 champions?

And how many F1 races are held in the US each year?

BTW.. on a side note.. what country has the most F1 champions?

Yes, My mistake.
Phil Hill 1961. Sorry. I wasn't born yet those times so I didn't remember it

Formula 1 champions 1950->
Finnish site but quite clear.
(Voitot=Wins; Paalut=Pole pos.; Nopeimmat..= Fastest rounds; Kilpailujen..=races that year)

Funked: Selanne.
Propably he drives better in track and rally than Hakkinen plays ice hockey

LOL. Mika's car is a little bit UBER   is not it?

Well, I imagine IF Shumy pilot this uber cars... No formula 1 then, I could say in the start of season who will win. Now we have something to argue about

Well, we all know WHO is the best formula 1 pilot for the last 8 years, even when he do not win seasons.

Hiya Fariz,
Nice to see you are still hanging here
How's your job going?

That was kind a strange opinion;

Could you explain to me that when Mika wins it was because his car was Uber but if Schumi wins it's because Schumi was the driver?

Then: If Mika lost the reason is driver but when Schumi lost the reason for that is the car?

Weird

Edit: In Hungary we talked with Germans and surprise: Maybe 10-20% of them hoped Mika wins the season.
These two drivers are propably the best now in earth and I hope the rest of this season
they can have a fair play. Few years ago Schumi used some very dirty tricks on track against Villeneuve and Prost(not sure this one), He rammed them out of race, and I hope he's gonna play the game fair this time.

If you fly a Fw190A5 vs C202, if you are in the Fw190 and you lose, is your drivin, if he wins is his drivin

If you win, is your plane, if he loses is his plane.

Now you see it better ?

BTW SCHUMI RULEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZ!

I will repost from my AGW thread.

Quote
Michael's championships were a fluke, only possible due to the power vacuum after Senna's death, and the retirement of Prost, Piquet, Mansell, et al.
For the first one he had to intentionally crash his opponent out of the race to clinch the title after he screwed up and realized it was all over for him.

For the second one he had the best package by far (Benetton Renault). Hell even Johnny Herbert, of all people, managed some wins in that monster! And don't forget that they were caught red-handed with illegal traction control but were let off the hook. Probably because Bernie needed a new star to replace Senna.

Mika will win his 3rd straight WC. Not by cheating or crashing his opponents out of the race, but by being the best driver. Ferrari will probably stick with Schumacher for another year, then after he fails again, he will be driving Mindardis or Saubers or whatever they give washed-up Ferrari pilots.

Yeah Funked, That's the post I read in AGW before

This Mika/Schumi thing looks like Hangtime/Hristo duel

Ram:
Maybe D-9 against XIV is better.

Dejavu:
We haven't got even a track here where F-1's could race
(well we have maybe the best drag Race tracks in this side of Atlantic Ocean  )

Mika will win.

Funked,
Now, now.  How can you say such bad things about Finns?   I think that they've proven themselves not to be wimps.  Winter War anyone?

Bug:  Ovals are cool.  I think you have to be at the race to appreciate it.  The key is that you can see the whole track.  And the cars go much faster than on an road course.  CART races on ovals, road courses, and urban courses.  The guy who brought rear-engined cars to Indy was John Cooper, his driver was Sir Jack Brabham.

Staga:  I know of a Cummins Diesel car.  Were there others?

Karnak:  I was just trolling with the Finn comment.  They seem to have larger balls than the rest of the Euro-weenies.  Rally driving and hockey are definitely non-weenie activities.

Cummins was only I knew.

[cut]
Cummins: Well-known maker of diesel engines for trucks, generators, etc. (Many years ago, they were known as the builders of the only diesel engines ever to race in the Indy 500)

Cummins Diesel, the sleek roadster with the diesel engine in it that he sat a record and sat on the pole with in 1952
