Looking for some input on a HOTAS purchase. Currently running a Saitek X52 & CH Pro Pedals USB. Plan to upgrade & purchase the matching CH Fighterstick USB Joystick and Pro Throttle USB, but keep hearing a great deal about Thrustmaster's HOTAS Cougar.

Used to have a TM F22 stick & throttle, ole AW days and liked the resistence of the stick, have heard CH's tend to be soft much like the Saitek X52 (early serial number), can't decide which to buy and would like some info to tip the scales. One last question, is it true CH is recommended by HTC for AH and is used during development of the game?

Thanks,

I have the Thrustmast HOTAS Cougar and am very pleased with it.  It is a very stiff stick, but I soon got used to it.  :)

I also have the Cougar Hotas with Cubbys Hall sensor mod and IJ's UberII mod.  I love the thing.....but...

1.  Support for it now is almost non existant. Parts are available but more so through the consumer base itself which hangs out at Cougar world.

2.   Sooner or later, your stock Cougar will die with the onset of Cougar gimbal disease.  Its hotas cancer for stock Cougar owners.  However its treatable with a variety of modifications.  The best of which will cost you in the hip pocket.

3.  Its programming features are excellent but in the ever demanding world of retail these days, there are those out there who can match or better it. CH for example.

Now ive paid my dues, swallowed my pride and modded my Cougar. Its practically invincible and the range of options with it for programming are excellent.  Im extremely happy with it in a variety of online combat sims.
Its built like a tank and it only ever lets me down when I start pulling out its insides attempting to make it even better.   Ive since learnt not to do that after it made me sit out of combat for 2 1/2 weeks until I treated it nicely again heheh.

If your prepared for the cost in the knowledge that its original makers are as useful as t*ts on a bull, get the Cougar.  With a little lovin' there is no subsitute. :)

Good advice there. I chaged from Cougar to CH and havn't looked back. I have no doubt though with the time and money, the Cougar is good.
