Help with bare metal.
« on: December 04, 2005, 12:17:16 AM »
I need some help from you P51 and P47 skiners on how to make a bare metal look. I mostly skin german planes and not many of them had bare metal but Iv found a 109F that did and have no clue on how to make that shiny metal look.

Looks more like it's oversprayed with white, but has dark colors underneath.

I agree with Krusty that this particular plane appears to have temporary white winter camo applied over its normal darker paintjob.

However, on the subject of doing metal, I recommend you do a search for a thread several months ago started by TexMurphy, called "How I Did the Metal" or something very similar to that.  It's EXCELLENT.  I use his method on all my metal planes.

Fester's metal has been by far the best.

I agree that 109 is probably painted over in white for winter.  I haven't done much in the skinning department, but I wonder if overpainting in white could look really cool in a skin.
