new comp
« on: December 04, 2005, 06:57:57 PM »
Okay, guys my son is thinkin on new comp and he does some cad programming along with some video editing and of course the general computing stuff. Not sure to go with AMD or pentium?  Any suggestions of which of the 2 would be better and then does he really need latest and greatest like maybe a 3.6 pent or 4000 AMD instead of the very latest. Basically I am needing assistance on the motherboard, cpu and memory. Thanks

I just got the new sony vaio with a pentium D chip.. the 3 ghz pentium D (i know it sounds slow but duel core is almost as good as having 2 processores) was reviewed by I think cnet and really speeds video editing and designs in cad programs along. for more expensive you could go with the AMD X2 for a bit more but the pentium is great too.

Just upgraded to an AMD 4400+ X2 a couple of months ago.  Very fast and very stable thus far.
