I once read an account about a purple heart issued during Vietnam. A guy was eating breakfast, hit his hard boiled egg with a spoon and a piece of the egg shell got in his eye. He went to medical and had it removed. Everything is good. When he left Vietnam a couple of months later, during the review of his medical record they found the following information in his record signed by a doctor, "(insert date) removed shell fragment from left eye." The guy got a purple heart for it. He was on some generals staff, never went in the field, and had an air conditioned office.
Kinda messed up huh.
