I like 465548.  They are both well done, but I don't like how dark 462892 is. Personal taste I figure.

JG53 was painting their planes with  81/82/76 (upper coat camo = Braunviolet over Hellgrün / w. Graugrün undercoat).

The RVT band is black, with the RVT band the nose art was then painted over.

I lightened both the 81 / 82 some (opacity set to 90%) the black RVT band set at 80% opacity.

Some modelers used Dunkelgrau (RLM 74) instead of Braunviolet (RLM 81). RLM 74 is used on White 21 (the dark grey). I am almost positive from the pictures that 462892 was pinted with 81 rather then 74.

Here's a variation with 81/82 (Gunze's H421 / H422)

Messerschmitt Bf 109G-14 16./JG53 , Gefreiter Alfred Michel, January 1 1945

i will check various color charts and may lighten the 81 a bit...

How does the image I posted compare to these colors for you?

81/82 over 76

Interesting on the bottom actual photo I thought the guy looked like Merle Olmsted of the 357th FG who was well known for taking lots of photos.  Dug out his history of the 357th and found this photo.

Same number etc but not white but black or a dark color.

A nice color shot of one of those 109s with the yellow nose band.

I kinda like the second one you did too Bruno.  Both look good, but the colors just stand out more.

The models don't look as dark.

I understand that some people are thinking AH shows everything darker than the skin maker intends.  Many people run with gamma set a little bit higher and for those of us who don't sometimes the skins look dark if the skinner didn't compensate.

I could be off, but that is what I heard.

When I hold a translucent copy of the images over eachother the model is lighter in color.  When I hold the images over the color code the model is lighter than the color code and the screenshots are darker than the color code.

Different plane type as well, notice the lack of 'bulges', its probranly a G-10.

Black 12 is a G-10 from a NAGR gruppe (12 IIRC). Its a skin we did did for the AH G-10 when I planned the Kurland event.

Its nothing to lighten up Blau 2, I will post more pics later for comparison.
