« on: December 08, 2005, 03:11:47 AM »
Can anyone please tell me what luftwaffe planes were fighting b24's over Zadar(Croatia) in 1944?I couldn't find that anywhere.
Thanks

ME-109G-6 would be a good bet.

I just happen to have some material on the Croat AF during WW2 around here somewhere. It also has some pics of LW planes operating in the same area I think. Give me a bit to find it and I will post anything if I come up with something.

Isn't that Hurricane the Hybrid with a DB?
I knew they flew some hybes, but in this case the top looks like a DB while the exhaust stacks are too high for it..:huh
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

Hey Duh, were you looking for Croatian AF or Luftwaffe planes flying out of bases in Coratia?

Well imagine 30 b24's bombing the town core....Fortunately all roman buildings survived, even the corpse of Saint Sime.

Thats a wonderful place :) Many friends of mine love sailing along Croatia's coasts.

Back on topic: I'll try to dig something ...
"And one of the finest aircraft I ever flew was the Macchi C.205. Oh, beautiful. And here you had the perfect combination of italian styling and german engineering .... it really was a delight to fly ... and we did tests on it and were most impressed." - Captain Eric Brown
