brought this up before but with little response.

just wondering if it it bothering/ noticiabe to anyone else.

or hopefully to get some feedback on if it could be fixed.

its not much of a critisism but i think it definitely spoils all the great efforts HTC have made visually in the last 9 months.

beautifull lighting and atmos.

not so great for a combined 15 mins of every virtual day....

after some testing we found that the sun takes the altitude of your center view point as the horizon. IE: if you are at 12,000ft, then the sun rises out of invisible horizon @12k too.

anyhow, was wondering if anyone cared.
And I don't know much, but I do know this. With a golden heart comes a rebel fist.

Yep, I've noticed that same bug. It is a little annoying effect, i agree.
It would even be better if the sun would be removed completely (to simulate the effect that it's below horizon) if the bug is not easy to fix.

It is annoying to see it that way. Also a bug that if you put the sun behind your sight-glass when it is like that, the sun totally disappears.

Should be fixed, but after ToD is released.

The most wrong thing with sun is size. Its HUGE :O
(real sun has angular diameter ~0.5 deg)

No, the worst thing is your clipboard doesn't block it out. How come the frame of your canopy will block it when you're flying into the sun but your clipboard won't. Irritates the hell out of me when I can't see it :(

The clipboard doesn't block it by design. HTC doesn't want you cheating and flying around with a clipboard up to block the sun.

While the sun itself may only be a certain size, the glare and brightness of the sun makes it look larger. Look at the sun. I mean, look as much as you can without burning your eyes. It's not a neat sphere. What you're seeing is probably 15-20% "blur" from the rays coming directly at you.

Now that is one of the most silly reasons I've heard  NOT to do something yet.
That whole line of reason makes perfect nonsence

How is that cheating? real pilot swould put their hand up to block out the sun to be able to see, whats wrong with using ther clipboard?

Not to meantion for anyone to be able to use it as a cheat they would  have to be able to get it to move so as to always be blocking the sun while they moved.

As soon as you got ot turn that pust the sun in a different place and thus the clipboard would no longer be blocking it and you would have to move the clipboard again.

really even using the clipboard to blck would be far less realistic then if you were able to block it with your hand.

The sun is probably the most accurately modeled thing in the game. Gives me the same type flipping splitting headache I get from the real sun.
but the most annoying thing is you cant even view the clipboard with the sun behind it because its so bright and shines right through.

In any event I hope the powers that be see the light (no pun intended) and change this.
While being able to block the sun with the clipboard would cut down on this ungodly glare it also reduces your visability and gives you a blind spot so IMO there is a fair tradeoff here

Try to look to sunset, real and game's one ;)
Sun in AH has about 8-10 deg angular diameter.
