Not if you buy direct, you must get Vector expansion or its not worth it. Keep checking ebay for used tir3.

I remember seeing a website that had three versions I think they were $30/$60/$100. I dont think I need a pro version just a cheap one that I can look around with.

You dont need a  pro version, i just use the basic track ir3 with vector expansion, trackir is not worth getting if you dont get vector.

check out what each model does there.

From what I hear you move your head about 2in. left youll look left untill you move your head to the default pos. and it will stop.

So you have to hold your head perfectly still?  I move around a lot when I play.  Sounds like I'd end up with a neck ache...

-If you move closer to the screen does it zoom in?

i do have it, it is in a drawer doing nothing, but i wouldn't sell it to you simply because i have none of the reflective dots anymore, none of the packaging and i dont know where i put the software.  it is a trackIR 3 Pro i think. didnt bother with the vector expansion.

I really didnt like it in Aces High which is why it is not being used.  It is unbelieveably good for MS Flight sim, WWII Online and IL2 head on a stick view system though.

There are adjustments to help keep a reasonable dead zone and still get good response when wanting to look around.  There is a learning curve, and you quicly learn just how much body english you use :lol   But with the instant feedback onscreen you quickly stop being quite so prone to excessive leaning.  With the vector the learning curve is about 1/10th what it was without vector.  Once you spend some time with it, you start to miss it when you forget to turn it on.

The quickest way to get comfortable with the TIR is to use it and force yourself not to turn it off for a good month assuming you play every few days.  If you keep turning it off because your having trouble keeping your head still enough to aim or whatever, you will greatly extend the time you need to become 100% proficient.

Its hard for many of us to remember, but there was a time when using your thumb to look around, with an additional button for the '45º up' views was very foreign to us all and felt unnatural.

the TrackIR4 Pro I just got works great in all axes except pitch

can't get the thing to work right when I look up - the view jumps

if I could get the pitch axis to work smoothly like the yaw axis does, this thing would be wonderful

(I'm a newbie so don't have to relearn from the pov hat method you vets are used to)

you are getting outside of the camera range, go to set up and make sure your hat stays within it and adjust camera acordingly.
