Some pics of the F4u-4 QEC I am building
« on: December 13, 2005, 05:27:51 PM »
I thought you guys might enjoy these photos.  Please do not distribute them.

These are photos of the F4u-4 QEC (Quick Engine Change) Unit that I am building up for an F4u-4.  The photos are all shot in my temporary shop while we wait to move into new digs.  The QEC Stand was also built by me.

The engine is an R2800-CB3 same as the CB-16 but no two stage blower.  We are using this engine as opposed to the R2800-18W as they are becoming rare.  We will put the -18W into the next bird.

Enjoy, but again please do not distribute.

didn't have a clue as to you being a nosepicker ;)

Dude will that thing fit in a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500????? Under the hood???? Might need to modify the frame to handle the tourqe but oh man what a ride that would be.

Man that thing is SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not sure where you live but if your within 5 hours of Chesapeake, VA and you need someone to help turn wrenches let me know. Never mind just saw your in mile high country. That sucks because I would love to volunter time to something like that.

Also do you have any pics of the airframe that baby is going in??? Would love to see it.

on second thoughts, did that thing come with the other parts. i always hate it when i buy a model and they forgot to mould the canopy, or the left tail plane. I imagine missing an entire aircraft could leave one slightly cheated.  most of the bad ones are cheap imports, damn kids working for bread, they cant even do the job right!

What a beautifull hunk of steel. I've always been impressed with radials.
