I have two quick points to make on vulching:

1) I don't do it for the easy kill. If I vulch it's either because I'm doing my part to suppress enemy air to assist the field capture, or because it's a target of opportunity as I'm just arriving over a field

That being said, my gunnery isn't the best to begin with so I usually only manage to get a couple pings in from bad angles, anyway. :D

2) Anyone who, when his field is capped by overwhelming numbers, insists on repeatedly trying to up from that field when he KNOWS it's capped by overwhelming numbers, DESERVES to get vulched.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

Amen Dred.

And for those who laugh at the idea of "honor" in a PC game .........

Honor is not an action.   Its not even a verb.  You may take an action that is "honorable", but Honor itself is a Thing.  It's a way of life that extends far beyond this game, or any other.  I've heard it called "gamesmanship", "spirit of the game", "heart", and a dozen other descriptors depending on the game being talked about.  Whatever.

Many times I've broken off pursuit of a fleeing con heading back to his base, thinking he is either bingo fuel or ammo, only to have him turn and try to shoot me for my trouble.  Oh well.  I cant force everyone to play my game, and wont try.  But I'll still play my game my way.  And if that makes me seem silly to you, so be it.  I'm silly.

I remeber often late at night letting a lemming up and get some altitude while VMPR and I took turns engaging the lemming 1v1.  Usually the lemming would call it quits when we got to about 7 kills apiece :)

I also remember my personal fine print to the "bingo" rule.  If I was in my 190, and I danced in front of a spitty till his ammo was all gone, that was spittys tough luck :)

I also remember a couple of those mountains being bugged, and stopping 20ft agl, and if you knew where they were, you could fly around inside the hollow pyramid.

I remember when there was a certain... honor among players

when everyone pretty much agreed that an HO was a pretty lame thing to do and you knew yourself that if you HO'd even by accident you just took the lame way out.

I remember when a call of "Bingo Ammo, or Bingo Fuel" by either party would bring an end to a fight and if you had fought well or if your opponent fought well you would let him go land with a " Good Fight" and not chase or be chased 3 sectors to vulch or be vulched upon landing.

I remember when one plane upping at 1 base by himself to face the 1 plane attacking it would be allowed to up and square off on at least semi equal terms without the 1 plane attacking the base vulching the 1 plane defending over and over just to get a free and easy kill.

I remember bomber runs to a strat target that ment more then just perk points and ranking. It ment a particular type of plane would not be available untill factory was rebuilt.
I remember bomber runs to such a strat target with fully manned "deathstars" took on a partylike atmosphere that were almost unique unto themselves ( also remember piloting such a deathstar and falling alseep en route onlyto wake up about 5 hours later with my plane empty of personel and diitched somewhere about 10 sectors off the edge of the map LOL)

I remember people actually upping to defend such a  strat target with earnest as they knew if they didnt they would loose their precious ride.

I remember that if you tried to up from a feild with damaged maintenance there was a good chance that your plane might not be working correctly right from the start

I also remember pyramid shaped mountains and clouds that never moved yet you could never fly into and the sun was just a yellow dot in the virtual sky.

Yes Times changed. Games have changed. Some for the better some for the worse. Some I miss. Some I dont
But of all the things I miss. I miss that certain honor that existed, those unwritten rules that almost everyone seemed to understand and follow.

I still see it here and there. Mostly from the old timers whos numbers by contrast and attrition seem to get smaller and smaller with each year when compaired to the newer players who just want the quick easy kill and
itdoesntmatterhowtheygetitthe yjustwantitnownowNOW.

Im sure many of the newer players will look at this and laugh.
I am also sure alot of the older players will look at this ith almost a certain sadness. And remember what it was once like

I remembers B17 car-bombing the troops trying to make it to the map room in the center of the field :)
Now that was a sight, a row of 10 soldiers running while being chased by a B17 driving on the grass.

I also remember times when you knew almost every name that spammed the chat including which planes he likes to fly. With smaller maps and much smaller numbers, usually not much more than 200 at peak online, the comunity was more tight. Maybe it's time to split the MA into different WWII eras - early war and late war or somethings.

Either would be easier to carry ab out than that total misconception you keep yanking out yer arse and dragging around.

IMO the ones with any grudge or "issues" are those who keep crying about a game that's been dead these some odd years passed.  As well as those who keep imagining i to have been other than it really was.  Same with FA, WB's and WWIIO for that matter....

oh!
