Perk whining for people with high perk amounts
« on: December 13, 2005, 09:27:41 PM »
Seriously, you see people complaining all the time "that n00b stole my kill!  Wahwah!"  I say if the person who got the kill "stolen" has more accumulated perk points than the stealer, and then he complains about the "steal," he should be fined about 100-1000 perks.

I think this would be a good idea.  Now all the people who brag about how man perks they have can find a way to a) shut up and let some "n00bs" get some perks, or b) lose all those perks by complaining like little girls with skinned knees.

Ya but that was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy back and I only flew bombers for about six months and didnt know about the BBS almost a year and a half later. Even then I didnt post untill around '03 two years after joinin AH. I mean waht that guy said is the stupidest thing Iv ever read on these boards. If I get a kill stole from me Im ganna be pissed off. I say if a plane is going down IE missing a wing or tail. If anyone shoots it while its falling down sould get killed. Kinda a kill stealing kill shooter. Now thats better then what he said.

Doing anything to deliberately grief other players on your side is just flat wrong. Some of us don't play for perks, or the war, or how many WTGs we get for a vulch run. Some of us play simply for the pleasure of shooting things down. When you newbs, desparate for perks, start diving in to steal kills, in the vain hope we'll suddenly respect you for landing 3 kills in an La7/N1k (even though you had to steal them), and have the nerve to complain about our indignation, we see how the scoring system has failed to add anything at all to the game, and I begin to fantasize about having KS turned off for a night.

STFU. This is the stupidest thing I have read on the boards in a while, and that's really saying something.

I like stealing Hub's kills though.  You should hear the shrill, girly whines on the squad channel.

First let me address the rude "aces:"  Get out more.  Some of you surely behave like this is a real-life thing here.  It's a game.  If you're on a kill and shooting wildly and missing and the con turns to me, I'm GOING to kill him.  You missed him?  Fine, don't starting crying like a baby.  Like a n00b missing his first kill.  Don't want to check-6 me next time?  Fine, I'd rather you didn't.  Half the time I get check-6 calls it's from some "ace" trying to make me break off the kill I'm after to steal it.  This is why I don't check-6 anyone unless they're clearly unaware of the danger.

Now let me address the common-sensical "Don't steal kills."  I have had far more stolen than I have stolen.  I was berated once or twice for "stealing" kills that attacked me.  I have broken off of many, many kills when I was warned away.  There's a level of maturity that goes with playing a video game as an adult.  That level apparently does not reach some of you childish "aces" and that's too bad.

As for the rest:  I find it hard to believe that someone who constantly posts things like "QUAH" can say that this is the stupidest thing they've ever read.  Unless they (as another poster stated) don't proofread their posts.

Now steal away, ya bunch of whining, crying, kill-stealing-but-complaining-when-others-do-it, HOing-but-crying-when-others-do-it, get-on-200-and-whine "aces."

Flame on.

If someone steals your kill, it's your own fault. You should have finished the job.  :p

Do you think aces in WWII cried when a plane was shot down before they got to it?

Have a beer in the officers club afterwards and be glad the basser is dead.

Hey, some good people!  Glad to see I'm not the only one who feels this way.

I don't ever complain when someone "steals" my kill; I just release the breath I'd been holding and move on to another con.  I usually fly a Zero, so after one or two engagements I'm almost spent; it's annoying to get assist after assist, sure, but the fact that I tagged the guy at all is fine for me.  I know eventually I'll get hoarded and take down at least one other guy, therefore making that day's flight worthwhile.

to you guys!  Glad to see there are still people who remember it's a game!  :aok

I didnt see that situation being discussed.  What was discussed was lamers following down a falling non-airworthy wreck firing away, to get credit for something that someone else already acomplished.  If you want to discuss how aces in WWII handled that situation.... A P51 pilot did get belted by a famous WWII ace after pulling a similar stunt so that it would look like a kill on his gun camera.

But if you want to talk about the situation in your quote, here is a humorous little informal AAR by Tom McGuire as told to, and recounted by General George Kenny....
Quote
"You see, General," said Tommy (McGuire), "that Fourty-ninth gang up at Tacloban didnt want Dick (Bong) going along with them any more, as he was stealing too many Nips from them, so he came down here to see if we would let him fly  with the 475th.  We figured we were good enough so we could take care of our own interests along that line, so we said it would be okay.  This morning he saw me getting ready to take off for a look at the Jap fields over on Mindanno and suggested that he go along.  I had a hunch I shouldnt have let him come with me, but I had to be polite, so I gave in.  We picked up a wingman apiece and took off.

"we cruised all over the island looking for something to shoot at, but the bombers and strafers have about cleaned the place out.  We had just decided to call it off and go home when we spotted a couple of Oscars just ahead of us, near Pamubulon Island, flying low just over the treetops.  There were on my side and I figured mabey Dick hadnt seen them so I barely whispered over the radio to my wingman to follow me and I dive to take one of the Nips.  One nice burst, and down he goes.  I turn to knock off the other Oscar but this eavesdropping Bong (motioning to Dick who was now sitting across the tent grinning) had heard me talking to my wingman and had located the Nip.  Before I could get in position, I saw him blow up and Bong pulls up alongside of me waggling his wings and grinning at me, like the highway robber he is.  That makes him thirty-nine and me thirty-one.  Im still eight behind.  I bet when this war is over, they'll call me Eight Behind McGuire."

Now there was some joking around in that story, but it obiously was a topic wasnt it?

Mabey the perk fine could be imposed on those who come to the bbs and whine about other people whining :)
