"Perfect" AH
« on: December 17, 2005, 08:21:31 AM »
Just my Opinion, but from a generalized perspective of the thousands of posts I've read in here over the years, I think I have come up with what so many think would be the "perfect" AH.

1. Each aircraft's flight model (speed, turning, fuel) would be 100% accurate as tested by the most accredited testing data available.

2. There would be no need for ANY manual adjustments to the engine controls or avionics of the aircraft. (we already have it)

3. The guns on every aircraft would always work perfectly and have exact ammo counts (we already have it)

4. The sky would always be a perfect blue at 12:00 with unlimited visability and no interference from solar glare.

5. There would never be any wind or other atmosheric effects of turbulance, air pockets, thermals, etc.

6. There would be no such thing as propwash or other disturbances in the air that could interupt flight (we already have it)

7. Airfields would be close by each other so the fights could be constantly supplied with new aircraft.

8. Airfields would not be able to be destroyed (or the ability to launch fighters not be compromised)

9. The terrain would be different every time you logged in to play.

10. As long as another friendly was in icon range, you would get an automatic "check six" if a bandit was within firing range of your plane.

# 4 is an easy.

.time 12 0 0  and the clock stands still with the sun straight up.

#7 we have, some maps more than others, still its there.
Get too close & the other guys ack is shooting you on takeoff!

# 8 deny's a major reason many play. Winning the war.
Besides, there are always "other" fields to launch from.

# 10, ROFLMAO

Sorry but that reads to me as you just being too darn lazy to care about your own SA.

Come on Midnight, you can do better than that!

I don't think this is Midnights wish list. As far as I understand this is what Midnight believes MOST people would consider the perfect AH.

I am not one of those for sure.

ya I think Midnight was just pointing out what the "cry babies" that populate these boards would concider the "perfect" AH.

Game play is what you make it. If you don't want to look for the type of play you like, log off. This is a game, if you want to relate it to real life.... $15 don't buy much these days, I think HTC has given us a sweet deal. Let the cry babies spend their $15 on more bubble gum.

"1. Each aircraft's flight model (speed, turning, fuel) would be 100% accurate as tested by the most accredited testing data available."

Ok, I'll buy that.

"2. There would be no need for ANY manual adjustments to the engine controls or avionics of the aircraft. (we already have it)"

Doesn't that sort of spoil the point of a ***WWII*** simulator? Such automatic adjustments would have be rudimetary at best. These aren't fancy modern turboprops.

"3. The guns on every aircraft would always work perfectly and have exact ammo counts (we already have it)"

Again, doesn't that spoil the point of a WWII sim? Guns WEREN'T perfect (granted some were close). Honestly, I wish I DIDN'T have an ammo counter in planes that did't historically have them (which my usual mount DIDN'T).

"4. The sky would always be a perfect blue at 12:00 with unlimited visability and no interference from solar glare."

Actually, I wish there was more of an impact by weather. It forces one to adjust their strategy. I'd love to be able to duck into clouds and actually be able to hide.

"5. There would never be any wind or other atmosheric effects of turbulance, air pockets, thermals, etc."

Why? That's part of flying.

"6. There would be no such thing as propwash or other disturbances in the air that could interupt flight (we already have it)"

See above.

"7. Airfields would be close by each other so the fights could be constantly supplied with new aircraft."

Ugh. And people think vulching/camping is bad NOW (note that I refer to vulching just to get free and easy kills. Applied strategically as part of a capture effort is another matter).

"8. Airfields would not be able to be destroyed (or the ability to launch fighters not be compromised)"

That would take a lot of the strategy out of taking bases.

"9. The terrain would be different every time you logged in to play."

Why? There's already rotating maps.

"10. As long as another friendly was in icon range, you would get an automatic "check six" if a bandit was within firing range of your plane."

It's bad enough getting Check Six'ed when I'm CHASING a bandit by a LIVE friendly as it is (I know y'all mean well, but I've broken off a target once or twice trying to evade a ghost and lost a kill that way).
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

Well Saxman it isn't a WW2 Simulator. It statred out great with tons of potential and it still is great. However HTC has, for obvious reason aimed more for an Air Quake with pretty good flight modell then for a WW2 sim.

Hopefully us AH vets and realism dweebs will like ToD and hopefully it will satisfy our needs a bit more then the current Air Quake does.

that is comparible to saying.

Not prop wash from other planes atleast Ketmit.

Flying in the prop wash of another plane feels quite a bit. However it is not something you would normally do when on the six of an enemy. The prop wash goes downwards behind the plane so in order to be disturbed by it you need to be on the low six.

If you are within radar range of a base, you should not have to hotpad.

Just slow to below 200 MPH and you get resupplied.
