Not that Heinkel though :D
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

To get back on topic, :) I mentioned the nose 'turret' because I saw it on il-2 Sturmovik: Forgotten Battles (version 1.0)

The glass nose would have sprockets along the edge, making it vertically turnable.

Maybe this was to improve either upwards as downwards angles of fire?

Yep, the nose point with the gun could be rotated in some curious manner to improve the field of fire for the nose gun.

WW2Online/Battleground Europe has this nicely modelled on it's He 111H-2.

It sux and is awfully hard to fly in a multiplane enviro because of netlag. :D
But from what little I tried of AH (il2 is the real thing imho), it didnt feel that much woser in ww2ol/BE. Plus taking part in a 30-40 men/plane bomber mission to Conventry is a huge feeling, well until the Spis/Hurris/Dewos show up over England and the whole thing turns into a series of still images because of netlag, and you keep struggling in your 110. :D When there are only 4-5 planes around, its nice.

OTOH, no other program offering such a detailed damage simulation and land enviroment for ground attack. It's the tanker sim part that's awfully good, plus the pure feeling and the mature playerbase.BTW, you can try it yourself, the whole thing can be d/l for free and tried offline.

You don't fly AHII?
IMHO it's better than Il-2. Started it, did some campaigns went online, but never got the kick.
What AHII needs is some population in the combat theatre. And the events, - they are a rush!

Tried it but the gunnery model seemed a joke compared to Il-2. Maybe I give it another try. The problem with Il2 that it overgrown itself, and the FM bleeds from a thousend wounds... the general FM and plane behaviour is very-very good imho, but the specs are generally off accross the whole planeset.  Besides, I don't have the time for more than logging in a single title on occasion.

You mean AHII?
I found Il-2 funny in some ways. In my first OL scruffle, I ended up 1 against 5. I finished my ammo into various of them, then got away without a scratch. I think I flew a Yak-1. The enemy was all 109's.
Anyway, I had no trouble hitting them, but felt the guns of AH (AH1 at the time) to be more lethal.
AHII is quite good IMHO though.

BTW the evasives and so on were all the same. But since we have more visibility in AH it's tougher to escape. So, furballing in Il-2 was OK, hehe.
