Out to hang from the wing strut thingie of a Cessna, practising those AH landings we're all so fond of.

Will have to press "o" a bit earlier than the usual 300 feet AGL though

I did one a few years ago, the buzz I got lasted for hours and I'll never forget the experience, what ya using manta canopy or standard canopy?

revvin, I did some jumps last summer, but sort of stopped because of lack of money. back into it again, and I gotta say; I'm scared to death.

I wonder why I do it. Then i remember the feeling of being hin the air and the immense high, one gets, how problems are just wiped from your world

.

But I'll still be "uh, no, I am NOT getting into that plane, uh uh" tomorrow

Using standard wing type canopies. Really big ones, 240 or 260s, so they're not so fast.

Am still working on a way to deal with the fear. Anyone got some tips?

Being thankful it's a civilian jump, and you're not making a military jump into a hot DZ?

I don't think much of your instructor if you still fear jumping. When I did mine I had (still do in some circumstances) a fear of heights, it was also the first time I had ever flown, infact I have flown in a plane and never landed in one

but even with those circumstances when it came to my time to jump I had no fear..thats not some macho roadkill statement either, the instruction I received (from an ex parachute regiment member) was so good that I felt completely safe in what I was doing from the time he taped me on the shoulder and told me to get out on the wing, then yelled GO! and I took that first hop backwards into nothing and watched the plane rapidly moving away from me (even though it had cut his engines and was gliding) even when I looked up and my rigging was all tangled up and for a split second thought I would have to cut away and release the emergency chute right until the time I touched the ground I felt at ease with it all because of the excellent training this guy gave me...makes all the difference.

Sounds like you are using a manta canopy, nice gentle 25mph forward speed, landing is like jumping off a small step..man thinking about it makes me want to go back!

I agree with Boroda. Anybody who jumps from a perfectly good aircraft is even crazier than someone who intentionally flies an aircraft with no engine.

HI Santa:

dont worry about the fear, it will go away, but not completly, you always want a little fear. and if the fear does go away completly, stop jumping, and Im not joking.

I made a 185 jumps in total, and watched a few people thunder in, but the really stupid ones, where the people that lost all fear and then made bad mistakes. the fear helps.

and every new season, that first one or two jumps, the fear will be close to your first ever jump, but it is great.

Cessnas are pretty nice planes to jump from. just hang by the wing strut and let go

.

And, there is No such thing as a perfectly good plane

. The duct tape on the Cessna proves that

As an interesting note there was a camera mounted on the wing of the cessn. So you crawled out under the wing strut thing, held on, looked and jump master, then gave the camera a big bellybutton grin and let go. Looked quite good

.

I think my training has been very good, but a very good friend of mine made a ground loop a year ago and is still in rehabilitation. To add to this, after my first jump a fellow made a bad judgement and tried to clear some trees so he didn't have to walk home after a bad drop. He realized he wasn't going to make it and decided to hook turn 180 degrees in his new 134 square feet chute. Hit the ground very hard and went off for an ambulance ride.

I dunno. Maybe I am just a wussie

. Brain tells me I will survive, body (until I actually exit the plane) tells me I am doing something that's very stupid and dangerous indeed. Body wins until I actually jump, then it capitulates and lets the intellect have its way.

Was very cool; first landing was a THUD one, second one as gentle as an angel landing on a cloud :9. Had a weird chute though; very slow except when you pulled right for two complete 360s; after this it'd stall on the right side and drop 100 feet very rapidly. Gave me an eeek experience

hehehehehe want to try something really fun, hehehehehe when your at 2000ft, wrap your toggles around your hands a few times, hehehehe then give it full flair, hehehehe and be ready to bring your arms back up really fast hehehehehe and hope you dont toejam yourself hehehehehe
