Judging by the 4 bladed props, they don't look to be the contrarotating type on the AN-22, I'd guess it might some variant of an AN-10/12/13 ?

Nah, ATA they are def 4 bladed.  Quite square like old Herc blades.

The tail config just screams Antonov.  The only problem is, as already mentioned, the lack of any visable horizontal tail surface outside of the vertical surfaces.

I'm stumped.

If it wasn't for the little bump on the top of the tail, I'd say it was definately photoshopped after searching the net for the last few days.

But one of the sites I hit mentioned a large Russian transport with twin tails and a Tail Gun, but has no pictures, and I couldn't find any pics of the type it listed. If it wasn't for that little shred of evidence, I'd suggest this guy was full of it.

EDIT- I now cant find the site again to list the reference I mentioned :(:cry
Treize (pronounced 'trays')- because 'Treisprezece' is too long and even harder to pronounce.

I posted that picture as an example of what it is NOT ATA.

The original picture has 4 motors and 4 bladed props as well as retractable landing gear.

The antonov AN-38 (that is what i posted) has 2 motors, fixed gear but a similar tail.

Just trying to add some convection to this brainstorm.

You know I think the most likely candidate is that its an AN-22 and its just coincidence that the blades of the props happen to be all crossing each other and the tail surfaces just happen not to be visable.

This pic is interesting for the bump on the aft tail that is visable on the original.  Looks about right if maybe a little small..?

Got me interested and its a slow day so I'll keep looking.
