ROFL!!
As a Canadian, I think the reason we can't be owned (well probably not "can't", more like "not recommended"), is probably due to our inability to survive in captivity.
We can't be house broken, we leave empty beer bottles all over the yard, we bark at the neighbors during all hours of the day/night, and urinate in the garden.
During the winter months we use up great amounts of water, turning your entire backyard into a big ice patch, and slide around chasing anything that skitters across the yard. Eventually you'll have to spend many extra $$$ to put helmets and pads on us so's we don't hurt ourselves of destroy the fence.
Canadians aren't worth the trouble of owning. They are better off left in the wild.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going out for a pee and a beer (just as soon as I find my helmet and pads).
