Be real sure your local FFL dealer will accept a weapon from a 'private party' for transfer. Turned into a REAL drag here.. every single one around here would not do paper for a weapon unless it came from a FFL dealer.

Once you have it, invent a paper trail of disposition for the rifle in a timely fashion. And find a very secure place to 'store' it when it's not with you at the range. ;)

Good luck.. you'll love it immensely; Garands are the Schiznit.  :aok

CMP will sell you a garand that is not as nice for $450 but you have to belong to the program.

CMP will sell you a dirty rifle.

Doesn't mean you are forbidden from cleaning it up.  9/10 the rifle underneath all the dirt will be better than that one you are showing.

Both of my CMP garands are beautiful after cleaning them up.  They'd sell for easily 1k$.

I really enjoy my garand.... I have never been a fan of rifles.... Have shot handguns all my life but...

The garand got me into rifles.... I even reload for it.  I have owned 760 remingtons and pre 70 winchesters and brownings and 22-250 varmit rifles and "assault" guns but...

have sold em all over the years...  My garand was a lucky find for  $400 and I really enjoy shooting it.   I am using 4895 powder and working up loads since surplus ought six is drying up.

I'm looking to purchase a MAK-90 sometime after the 1st. Very wonderful gun to shoot and nothing beats the look of the AK variants.

I know, I know, it's commie blah blah, but they really are nice firearms.

Coming from someone who owned a MaK-90, find a better AK, the chinese MAK 90 I owned was a POS.

I had a 6 inch .357 magnum revolver outgroup it at 100 yards.

He came down to 650.  Will be on its way Tuesday morning to my FFL.  Local guy does them for 20 bucks, he does around 30 transfers per month.  That funds his regular trips to the big shows on the mainland.

:)
