Originally posted by StarOfAfrica2 Thanks for the info! Unfortunately the gun has to be shipped here, so it will have to go through a FFL. No choice about the paper trail. I have talked to the guy who owns it, and he has several, he just doesnt need that many. He's getting ready to retire and wants to focus on real collectible stuff. This one he used for WWII re-enactments because he didnt mind if it got dinged up. He couldnt give any grouping info, but said he never has any problem plinking with it out to 100 yards. Not real informational, I know, but if it hits what he aims at that far away, I'm guessing it would group ok. He is offering a 3 day trial, so I am really considering buying it. I normally trend towards bolt actions in rifles, just as a personal preference, but my grandfather always swore the M-1 was the best rifle he had ever used in the war, and I've heard alot of good things about them here too. I'll decide today. I have a few toys I'm considering. The wife is being lenient right now because of the holiday and letting me buy one.
CMP will sell you a garand that is not as nice for $450 but you have to belong to the program.
