Airsoft guns...should be illegal without license?
« on: December 24, 2005, 11:22:01 PM »
Airsoft guns are replicas of the real guns except they shoot 6mm plastic BBs. I mean a guy could walk into a store and rob the place with these things cause they look soo real but however they can never shoot real bullets.Should these things be requiered for a license?

Plenty of people have committed robberies with their finger stuck in their jacket pocket too, so no they shouldn't require licencing to prevent an airsoft crimewave.

They're still dangerous just like bb guns or paintball guns if misused, so the same rules apply to them where I live.

I mean the way it is now, you're
                       takin' the same risk as
when you rob a bank.  You take more
of a risk.  Banks are easier!
                       Federal banks aren't supposed to
stop you anyway, during a robbery.
                       They're insured, why should they
care?  You don't even need a gun in
                       a federal bank.
I heard about this guy, walked into
a federal bank with a portable
phone, handed the phone to the
teller, the guy on the other end of
the phone said: "We got this guy's
little girl, and if you don't give
him all your money, we're gonna
                       kill 'er."

                       Did it work?

                       *****' A it worked, that's what
                       I'm talkin' about!  Knucklehead
walks in a bank with a telephone,
not a pistol, not a shotgun, but a
                       ******' phone, cleans the place
                       out, and they don't lift a ******'
                       finger.

Did they hurt the little girl?

I don't know.  There probably never
was a little girl -- the point of
the story isn't the little girl.
The point of the story is they
robbed the bank with a telephone.

If you want this type of legislation, move to Austrailia.

Isn't there a law in some us states that toy guns have to have a bright orange muzzle? If I lived in one of those states I would paint all the muzzles of my real firearms bright orange.

Speaking of toy guns, I notice that some airsoft guns now boast of muzzle velocities of approx 400 fps.

Is it a good idea to shoot anything at 400 fps at another human being? To give you some perspective standard issue 45 acp muzzle velocity is about 460fps if I remember correctly.

Sorry i was way off, 45acp is like 700ish fps.. senior moment.

Yes, all fake guns are *required* to have a bright orange muzzle.

But any crime committed in which any gun, fake or real, is used to threaten someone will be treated like the gun is real.  I.E. If you rob the store with an M4 Airsoft gun, you will be punished like you robbed the store with a real M4.

By all means let`s write our state governments requesting this.
We also need to request that pocket combs, fingers, baseball bats, tire irons, cell phones, rolled up paper, ink and pen, toothbrushs, etc. etc. require a license or better still we need to ask for an all out ban on these articles. They have all been used in robberies and other acts of the non-law abiding folks.
Of course if we get what we request on this we may have a problem in building houses , etc because trees will definitely have to be outlawed. On numerous occasions they have been whittled, carved into shapes of various weapons.
We will also probably develop a pretty severe BO prob because soap has been carved into various weapon shapes and painted with such ghastly things as shoe polish to commit robberies, prison breaks......on and on it goes.
What do you propose we replace ball bearings with? They would definitely have to be totaly banned or put under tight regualtion and licensing. Projected from a  slingshot these things are more than deadly.
There goes our rocks. They will have to go........................... ..........
............................. ..................
...........................
Such legislation as this would be highly appreciated by the career criminal as it would make their life so much easier. Quite similar to gun bans. It simplifys things for the criminal.
Let`s get on this now and not let the opportunity slip by.

A talented moron could make a replica of any weapon out of balsa wood and rob someone.

In fact, if you even say your have a weapon during a robbery the law treats you as having commited a felony with a weapon, even if it turns out you didnt have one.

I think criminals should be outlawed, including crime.  Or if the weapon used was in fact a replica, fake or curio item.

Lets make crime illegal!

Airsoft should be banned, and the shops should have to replace your newly bought replica with a real gun!

replicas... humbug guns..:huh

The military should get replicas until they learn how to point them AWAY from people.

Oh.. and never hand over a gun without first checking if its loaded or not.

Oh.. and never put down a loaded weapon.. empty the clip into the nearest insurgent or wasp-nest..

cheers

in florida, if you tell the person you are robbing you have a gun , it is "armed robbery"
