NOE missions at night? Why not just milk run undefended bases (oh wait, that's what you just described). You can get the same effect by going offline and setting it to nighttime, too.

Reduced light = impossible for me to judge angles/set up shots as well as normal  I usually take off when it's dusk/dawn... it royally sucks. However, the light looks better during that "night time" than it does in dusk/dawn... hmm.

No. Thats what night should be looking like.

If its any darker then that your monitor settings are either messed up or your monitor is on its way out

If your also having problems with Dusk/Dawn

Either of these two reasons it also a very high probability

I would agree with this wholeheartedly.

Far as Im concerned is the most accurately modeled part of the game. To the point where I even get the exact same splitting headaches from it as I get from the real thing when driving my car towards the sun for too long

Personally, I like the "darker" settings, dusk & dawn.

The sunlight is ok, however having it blaze in your eyes for hours is like looking at a guy arc welding in the garage.

What is so funny about all this is, why is it that everybody and their brother love to fill the boards with how perfectly modeled the planes should be and how historically they didn't have this or that or DID have this or that.

Yet everyone want's this picture perfect bright sunny 70-degrees outside with just a whisper of a couple small high clouds type of day. You'd think we were trying to duplicate an Ansel Adams painting or something.

Fact is, in WW2 there were just as many "overcast" "cloudy" and night time type days as there were sunny at the Bahama's type days.

My 2 cents

Night is ok once a year, perhaps, but not as a regular thing.  No fun to dogfight in.  I play this game for fun, not for absolute realism (that's why I'm still alive after being shot down and "killed" several hundred times).

night was pretty neat and everything was still very visible , but earlier stated someone said something about eyes straining to see. I didn't much have a problem with sight, having something in between dusk and dawn would be nice as I find myself flying east an west most of the time into the blaring sun (that brightness is a strain). Don't get me wrong I'm majorly into realism.

I guess my point is if we can have blaring sun 50% of the time why not night time.

One solution to visibility of planes would be to add flames from exhaust stacks at night, and even during the real low-light level periods of dusk/dawn.

And think of this: Night means more of a reason to add nightfighters. :D
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

I thought it was the coolest graphics I've ever seen in AH, and I fluff'ng HATED the old night--mebbe even shorten icons from 6k to 3k during the duration, if that is possible--little variety doesnt hurt, esPECIALLY when compared to hours-at-a-time dusk/dawn

I miss the night and hunting BuFs with my 110.
If you think you just aren't up to fly at night and that you must log when it gets "dark" out then just adjust the gamma on your screen for Pete's sake.

I also miss the clouds that were amazingly realistic and that could be used for tactical evasion and such.  It was a major loss to realism to lose those clouds.  They were the most realistic looking clouds in a game that I've ever seen.  Truly, a work of art.

Targets being obscured by coulds was a real factor when bombing, and hiding in and running to clouds saved my butt on many a sortie.  They were a factor in the game, not just mere backdrop. I really don't know why they were discontinued.  Anyway, their loss was a major bummer from my viewpoint.   :(

You may have noticed that I keep re-activating my account hoping that things get a little more realistic.  Yet, despite my hopes the game seems to be trending more towards a simplified arcade-like experience and away from a more complex gaming model.   Oh well, I guess I'm just hard to please.
