CH Pro Rudders & XP problem?
« on: December 29, 2005, 06:25:35 AM »
Just downgraded to XP from 98SE (I know, I'm hard headed...) and now one toe brake doesn't work with USB Pro pedals...

I've selected all devices again in AH settings, but no input for one side.

Anyone else have this problem or ever heard of such a thing?

Are you using the CH manager software?

Maybe its not OS related.....lots of CH pro pedals owners had the same problem, but it turned out to be the cut wire..

No, not using CH manager, SoA. I transferred AH settings folder from old setup but stick settings didn't take. I re-selected stick, throttle and rudders in AH setup and had to reset all buttons. The old stick map worked after resetting buttons, but I have to keep calibrating everything, which is strange. Not going through USB hub.

I loaded XP onto new hard disk, I think I'll fire up 98SE hard disk and see if rudders work fine there...

I'm guessing that something got "lost in the translation" when you upgraded to XP.  XP and 98 handle things very differently.  What I would do is this.  Save your AH settings folder, and then rename it and move it somewhere safe.  Uninstall all CH software/drivers (I know you said you arent using the manager software, but you may still have some installed).  Reboot.  Plug in your CH equipment and let Windows XP detect it and install drivers.  Reinstall Direct X, to make sure it is properly updated.  Start Aces High and see if everything is recognizing now.  If it is, exit Aces High and try copying your old settings folder back in.  Restart Aces High and see if it is working properly.  Step by step eliminates one problem at a time.

Well, it seems that transferring settings folder created some conflict. The right toebrake works even though it displays having no input response. As long as it works, that's good enough, but I have to calibrate (in game) more using XP, it seems.

@ SoA: Never were any remnants of CH Manager since I never let the CD come into the same room with my PC, just in case some random bits flew off the CD and tried to fly inside the case and into the hermetically sealed HDD. Oh sure, I caught the CD sneaking into the room one night after it escaped from a box inside a closet, but I caught it and sealed it up again with tape inside a ZipLock bag before locking it in the trunk of my car. :)

Rolex, check your USB ports / root hub make sure you have power settings set to always on, this might help you in having to recal so much......
