I've landed my first flying job  :D

despite the seriously bad times the major airlines have (plus my current rmployer which is heading towards "titts up" at Mach 0.78) there's still some niches for flying jobs out there and i've got the chance to get hired full time by the skydiving outfit i've been freelancing for the last 1/2 year.

Beers on me tonight folks  :D

I work in Business avaition.  If anything our workload is probably going to go up.

I never liked major airlines.  Sure, they pay well, but I don't like unions and don't like how airline job markets jump around like yo-yos.

Well said LtHans. I looked into Crop Dusting as a career in 1991, seemed OK, but the pay wasn't there. (as in I couldn't afford it on mechanic wages)and the pay like any 1st flying job was a bear to burden in comparison.

Kudo's to anyone who can escape and ENJOY a aviation career which they can put time and heart in, yet still make ends meet.

Have a blast Duck, I bet the people you meet while building hours are fun folks. (just look at what they are doing!)

When it all settles down, which the industry will shortly Im sure, you'll have options to entertain.

MAn, if I could handle 16 hour days chasing the seasons and crops over the States for 9 months a year, I'd be a dustin fool.

Old dream, sigh.

And if you can weather the long years of commuter airlines and the drone of props (I fell asleep every jumpseat ride, not a good sign for autopilot flying) with enough patience, you'll make good money.

Good luck.
