Go ahead and HO my IL-2!
« on: January 03, 2006, 12:48:49 PM »
For the New Year I am going to give a gift to the AH community. Personally I am going to teach all the hoers a lesson Not to HO. I have become very good at avoiding the ho and making it work in my advantage. But a couple of nights ago I felt a little frisky so I upped an il-2 for base defense. It was surprising the amount of hoing going on and how every last signal fighter was going for the head on. Let’s just say I had a blast taking wings off at d800. So last night I took my il-2 to FT and for the first hour my kill to death was something like 5 to 1 because people were going for the HO. It was crazy kill after kill they were all going for the HO. After that first hour some people started to learn and really fight, it was great. So I guess we all can talk and try to make main a better place but I think that learning by force is the way to go. I looked at the score page and I have 70 kills in an il-2 and only 30 deaths not to bad for a hoer. BTW go ahead and HO my IL-2!

Oh no no no no no... theres something better.....

The other day I was frustrated enough.... I HOed BACK!!! Imagine the surprise in the face of the C-Hog pilot when the Hurri Mk1 he was fighting actually WENT FOR THE HO!

Best thing about it: I got away undamaged, while the C-Hog had a major fuel problem afterwards. LMAO.

FX after I heard that what you were doing last night I decided I would try to take you out! hehe.

Took me a good 2-3 min to get a decent solution on your 6 with my 38 (trying to learn this damm plane!)

I aplaud your efforts to teach people a lesson on this subject, there were tons of ho'ng going on last night in FT.  I am certainly not a good pilot but even with my short amount of time in this new bird "J" model, I taught a few spitties and 190's that ho'ng a nose gunned 38 prob isnt such a great idea.  I try to put myself in the mindset that if we are merging at equal alt and facing nose to nose I won't fire until I see there tracers start to flash, then open up.

You know what? I pretty much always see the tracers flash, sigh.

Given the fact that the 38 provides a HUGE target, especially when I'm driving it sense I dont know what Im doing in it yet, why, for the love of god would you choose to ho me?  Im not moving that fast, so I cant turn fast.  My tail is way soft and falls off really easy and my visability over my wings pretty much sucks.  Take the extra 60 seconds and work a "6" solution.  Yea, I know, work sucks but damm.

/rant off

p.s. I'm really kinda liking this plane.  I die ALOT but its alot of fun to fly.

I am getting to the point that lets say i am taking off with dt's and their is a con close to the base. I have no idea how good the pilot is but i really dont wish to drop the dt. So we merge if he goes for the ho i dont drop because in five sec he is dead. The problem is when that con doesnt ho and i think to myself hmm. After merge i look at his first move and their goes the dt because most good pilots will not ho 1v1. I had a run in with kermit the other day and we were co alt 1v1 and he didnt ho at merge. Those dt came off so fast and it was on. I had no idea kermit was in that typhie but when a typhie doesnt ho, merges like your in the da you better get your watermelon together. So leason learned if you try and ho me their is a 95% chance that you will die. I fly a cannon planes because i like to kill quick. Also i like having mult kill runs knowing that at any time a can land 20+. I really dislike the HO.

Lets get one thing straight if i rope you and your air speed is 50mph and i shoot you in your face. Thats not a ho in my book because i win 9/10 times.

Thx, I was kinda proud but then you had gotten slow and low to try to avoid and extend some (tree level if I remember right).

btw, you ping'd me a few times from your tail gun i think as you were going down, pretty good shooting considering you were free falling.

I've seen this as well - I think they're going for the ram. They have 3 lives, afterall.

If you're going to use an Il2 for base defense, you MUST have tracers off.

It is hillarious to see spits suddenly learn that not only is HOing a bad idea, but some fly without tracers.
