I like them. Almost bought one. I preferred the mass and weight of the Nikon better, thus my decision to go with the D70s.  Can't go wrong with Canon.

If you want really great photos, shoot in RAW format and tweak them on the computer.

That is what lookin at & reading up on doing. Think will just have to get in & play around with it a bit. That is beauty of no film, can screw around to hearts content.

Since was gift from wife, can't very well take back for nikon.

Really like the fast frame burst...should be fun with kids sporting events.

Nor should you take it back, Canon/Nikon is a preference thing, both excellent cameras.  I went "digital" about 4 years ago and have not used my 35mm stuff since then. I shot 35mm for 25 years.  Within the last 4 years, digital cameras have surpassed 35mm for quality of pictures IMO.

Looking for something to switch my wife over to. She loves her Pentax 35mm but has kept wanting to try one of the newer digital SLR's. My only concern is will her lenses work with the digital or does she have to buy new lenses for those digital SLR's? I guess I need to pull out the lenses and see what they are and start doing a little research.

I have the 350D (xt's name in Europe) and I've been very content with it. This was my first SLR so it took a bit of learning. I think all of the current DSLRs are good cameras so basically you can pick whichever fits your hands/budget/lenses better. Of course, if you already have some lenses or flashes for a system then it's better to stick to that since the lenses will be the biggest investment anyway.

I think that the lenses should be at least physically compatible, but I'm not sure about the autofocus or metering. Hm, just did a quick search and found this and   this.
