WWII What-ifs...
« on: January 05, 2006, 01:15:02 AM »
What if...
P-39 had turbosuperchargers installed and 20mm hub cannon instead of 37mm potato.  Would P-39 still be the best USAAF fighter up to early-mid war?

What if...
Japanese Army's Ki-61s recieved Daimler Benz DB 605.  Would Ki-61 tip the balance of power in mid-war PTO?

1.  Many of the P-40D's & P-400's of the USAAF DID have a 20mm hub cannon.

2.  Doubtful, while the Japanese couldn't build the Tony's engine to the standards of the Germans Benz engines the 61 was a pretty limited a/c in the evolution that could have been gotten from the airframe. Still it is interesting to think about if they had modified it to the length the Germans did on the 109.
