Success!  Thanks guys for the recommendations.  Removing all of the accumulated films completely fixed the problem.

EDIT:  Maybe I've got a new bug report...can't delete this post.  Checked the "delete?" box and "delete now" but it won't go away...hummm...anyway, disregard
