My Lai massacre hero dies

Stir the pot? I found the thread, thank you Nuke, but no one responded to that one at all. I guess a guy who wins the Soldier's Medal and faces down his peers when they are doing the wrong thing isn't quite as laudatory around here as say...

I belive Saturday or Sunday morning one of the morning shows payed tribute to him.

He got inducted into the Aviators Hall of Fame, and he said, "That really means something to me, having fellow pilots and aviators thanking me for what I did, that Army medal really didn't mean nothing to me.".

Which he didn't get that army medal until I dunno how many years after the end of the war.

You know it's ridiculous, this guy recieved death threats, and even mutilated animals on his porch for saving 9 lives, imagine what would of happen if he didn't step in the line of fire of a bunker with a mother and child in it.

He later got to meet the mother and child aswell, the child was 6yrs old at the time, now having her own kid.

You know, it brought a whole new meaning to respect for our veterans, this guy deserves more respect then what he's getting on this board.

Perhaps is it because so many of you don't care, or did some of you participate in such a mass murder of innocents?

Funny Toad, if it only slightly smacks of a liberal issue it's a troll? I saw the tribute to Thompson on the CBS Sunday morning show. His story is compelling and worth remembering. I thought this would have been a topic of some interest here at a flight sim BBS. Yet it gets little or no response. It was the lack of response that I found the most compelling. YMMV
