I finally "bit" on their stupid TV ads and went online for a quote. Wow. Its
50% cheaper for the same coverage I have now.

Any feedback good or bad here?

I like Geckos...they eat roaches and all kinds of oher pesky bugs.  In fact, I will let them live inside my house for that reason, currently I have a pretty big one downstairs.  Those Geico ads however make me want to stamp on the darn things....but so far I have refrained from doing so.

I was with geico, the first year they are significantly cheaper than state farm which help all my policies. the follwing year they increased just a bit and so on.  after about three years with them a friend opened an allstate agency and asked for my business. they were a little cheaper on the vehicles but a lot cheaper if we did home and vehicles.  since then allstate has been consistently lower.  now I shop quotes every year.

as far as their service is concerned, they are very good.  my wife was hit by an uninsured motorist, we had no problem quickly settling the claim and their followup was superb.

When I was in college, they wanted more than 3 times the premium I got at USAA or with the insurance company I'd been using under my parent's policy.  I haven't checked with them since because it was so blatantly overpriced.

They wanted $1500/year to insure a 21 yr old college kid driving a 17 year old ford station wagon.  I got the same coverage for $550 under USAA.
Everyone I know, goes away, in the end.

Yup I had the same experience back in 97.  They basically told me unless I was an Officer they were gonna give me outragiuos rates.

That's all changed now, I'm saving $100 a month with them vrs. state farm who I had been with for 10 years.

When my Jeep got wrecked by my neighbor, who also had state farm, they basically were willing to fork out as much money as I wanted to get my jeep fixed.

They're usually cheaper these days, but they're a pain in the bellybutton with claims. Geico and Safeco will both low ball you into bankrupcy if they could.

I've heard of Geico trying to total out a 2002 pathfinder that needed $6k in bodywork.

I have Geico for the motorcycle as they have better rates than USAA for bikes.

When my wife and I got married, she switched from Geico to my insurance, State Farm.. she got more coverage, a smaller deductable, and better service with State Farm, and pays about $20 a month less.

When I worked for Nationwide Insurance in claims I found that when I called and tried working with their adjusters and other field people (even their claims service reps!) they were not good to deal with.  I recieved numerous compliments on my customer service from their customers comparing us to them and telling me thank-you when I'm working on subrogation toward them :)

Top 3 who I think work hardest for their customers in the claims process are Nationwide, State Farm and Progressive.  That's just from my point of view but hopefully it helps.  (Now that I'm not working for them I can stay stuff like this:D )

I have AAA. Geico can't beat my premiums. Hell, Progressive can't either.

I've only had one claim in the past 10 years or so that I've been with AAA. The accident wasn't my fault and the repair couldn't have been any easier for me.

I use Geico.  Love it.  Love paying my bills online, love no hassles or paperwork (except my cards that come every 6 months).  Cheaper than Progressive or anyone else I could find, and their claims service was just fine for me.

If I ever so much as see a State Farm agent cross the street in front of me I may commit murder.  Biggest G**D*** crooks in the industry.  I'd rate SF agents as lower than lawyers or roadkill on the evolutionary line.  Thieven bas****s.

You tried Progressive?  They came in a hundred bucks a year cheaper than Geico, and hundreds cheaper than the others (for me).  When my Jeep was stolen, they were excellent to deal with.

To make a long story short, the body shop they recommended was a PITA (I could have chosen any body shop) and took over two months to track down all the new vibrations in it (the little theifs screwed by Jeep up pretty badly).  Progressive paid for all the repairs, and a lot of "exploratory repairs" and guesswork repairs that they didn't have to.  They gave me a nice loaner (2005 Dakota quad-cab with 6k miles) without any hassle.  They paid for a better CD player to replace the one that had been stolen.

Besides using their recommended body shop (my progressive rep apologized for recommending them later) I couldn't have been much more satisfied with their service.

Everyone has their personal likes and dislikes regarding insurance companies, direct or agency, etc.  Insurance rates are not static. Shop around. You'll find yourself saving money if you go out and shop around every 3 years or so, this presuming you have no accidents and no tickets..where you'll always find your best rates.  It literally pays to drive safe and within the limits.

Currently we're with AIG, direct insurance company thats been around since 1923.  My wife was T-boned (hit and run) 2 years agos and after we reported the accident, the car was in the shop the next day and fixed a week later. We're very happy with AIG (Direct Insurance) and we don't like paying a middle man (Agent) just to get a christmas card from them every year.
