I finally went and did it
« on: December 16, 2000, 10:26:00 PM »
Thats right, after months of frustration I finally went and D/Ld WBs2.76!

Started my account and flew online in the WW2 arena flying for allies for about 40 mins.  Flew the P47D, P39, P38, P51B.  Got shot down two times and got two kills.
Had fun but the old view system and the overall stale feel of the graphics left me feeling empty.  The tracers are ancient. Loved the FMs though.

Logged and sent my request in to cancel my account.

As much as it pisses me off sometimes, AH is far and away a superior product, warts and all miles ahead of 2.76.

Still excited about the potentiol for WB3 however!

With a renewed appreciation for AH,
Yeager

I've gone back in and tried it.. always left shakin my head. Like goin back to the old neighborhood I grew up in.. walkin up to the old house, and knowin in yer soul it ain't home anymore.

*sigh* Good memories there in WB's (unlike home) and it was great fun. But like yer second redhead; the thrill is gone... among other things.

Hehe, about 2 months ago I did the same but just flew offline, and like you Yeager the graphics/view kills it for me, not to mention I use analog and usb both for control now and they don't suppport multiple controllers still/yet.

I did fly the free week in Dawn of Aces tho and had a lot of fun flying anonomously with a some of the 'ol gang but it's still not worth the monthly fee IMO. Having to use old spiky flight gear and having to shut down and reconfigure between Aces and DoA sure sucked.

I sure hope HT revisits WWI someday, DoA sure was shaping up nicely right up until the day he left....
