Well after nvidia and Ati stated they wouldn't not be releasing any more high end agp cards , Nvidia has announced that a 7800GS will be released for AGP . This is a shot in the arm for agp, It's due out in FEB. 06     38

All to the good.  That means they might have to drop the prices more on the 6800's.  :)  I was lookin hard at a 6600GT, but I may wait till February now and see what happens with the prices.

Yeah it figures , i updated my 754 board and 3700+ cpu to be able to get the new generation video cards , Oh well stuff like this happens all the time to me . Like last year i bought a x800pro , only to find out 2 weeks later that the x800xl was coming , it had more pipes and was cheaper . lol my life story hehe 38

Makes sense really.
The current AGPx8 bandwidth isn't fully utilised as it is.

The only advantage to PCI-E is the ability to use SLI, and even then thats only useful if you play at insane resolutions.

Before PCI-E can fully come into own, the current speed of processors needs to about double, and that isn't going to happen soon.

nVidias latest chipset doubles the bandwidth of PCI-E, why?
It's frickin pointless.

Nice marketing gimmick though.
