M3 BUG - Anyone Else?
« on: December 16, 2000, 10:36:00 PM »
Ok - this has happened to me on several *very* inopportune times as well as with my squaddies.  I have an M3 on the way to a field to capture, pull up next to map room and release troops but no one comes out.  There is no possibility that I pressed the fire button, no possibility that troops were not selected.  This is extremely frustrating, has this happened to anyone else?

Once you hit fire start driving forward. You will jolt them enough to fall outta the back of the truck
They don't call em drunks for nothin!

Happened to me last week Nimitz. Sat there on the field hitting every button I could think of. They just wouldn't get out! We lost the capture because of it.

Were you pressing the secondary weapon fire button?  Is it possible that you hit the backspace key to change secondary ordinance (not sure if this would matter)?  I've never had a problem with it myself.

Always make sure u have troops selected in the hangar before u launch an M3.

I think if you move to a field with troops diabled the game will de-select troops, so that the next time u launch u wont have any. But thats just a guess.

The art of M3ing.......

1st) Check key mapping for B button to release in Vehicles.
2nd) Salvo 10
3rd) Hit F3 to watch and make sure they comin out.
4th) Dont touch the stick at all till you count 10 head..

If 3 troops jump out and you switch to the gun, thats it.. no more troops will come out. Dont know why, just the way its worked.

Dog out.......

eskimo is correct, Regurge has it.  It happened to me a while back, very frustrating, and then I was able to recreate it.  If you go to a base with troops disabled, they will stay disabled when you go to the next base.

I have gooned MANY times    I know exactly how it works, and know all the tricks.  There is no possibility that the troops were not selected, no possibility that I changed the ordinance.  It does not happen very often, but seems it manages to be the sneak captures when it does    Oh well ...

I looks like we need to consolidate all of the various bits of info.

  • Have troops loaded onto your halftrack BEFORE you leave your base.  You can go out empty by accident if you don't check it.
  • Come to a complete stop, and stay stopped.
  • Open the damn door to let them out first
  • Don't jump to the .50 cal during the drop.  You'll screw it up and cause your troops to disapear if you do this.  This is a BUG!

Hans.

Sounds to me like we need the M3 updated so you can see the troopers sitting back there while you drive. That way, you know they are there.

Pyro- maybe this could be done for 1.06? Maybe even the troops could fire their guns if the M3 is being attacked?

Yep the only thing that I can think of is make sure you come to a complete stop, like Hans said.

Never had any  problems with the M3
