General R4metzASSt, you are forgiven. Your Supreme Commander has spoken.

Well, Since I consider AH a waste of good coding, and have a blast in WW2OL, I guess it is all a matter of taste, eh?

First off, AH is the best code I’ve ever had the chance to enjoy. Perfect? Of course not, but what can be? It’s getting better, and you can’t argue that.

As for your “matter of taste”.

Your taste for toejamty code, confirmed by not just me, but the uproar from the faithful community in WWIIOL, leads me to believe they are not wrong. Indeed, toejam sandwiches are your delicacy.

It works well for me, and since I didn't tattoo the hype on my ass, I can live with what is there not what is promised.

I’d have to reread my game box, but in retrospect, I can without any fear of repercussion, to say what was promised, is certainly a laugher you tard.

This will end this debate, it’s gotten silly. Certainly you have another 256 RAM chip shipper that will provide the needs of your business.

Gadfly,  If the game truely does work on your system as you have said then you must be lucky.

I tried WWIIonline on no less than 10 different pc's with the slowest pc being a Pent 3 733/133
256Sdram PC133
Geforce 32meg DDR (original geforce)
SB Live

The fastest pc I tried it on was a
Dell 8100 Pent 4 1.7ghz
512 RDRAM
Geforce 2 64 Ultra
SB Live and I tried it on a Turtle Beach

After testing on all these machines it was simple to see that it's the code, it's not ready. PERIOD!

The game will be good someday, I honestly feel that day is at least a a year from now.

note: I have not tried WWIIonline in about 3 weeks, I've heard the new patch helps a lot, I'll load it up tonight and give it a try.

Read the line carefully-note the use of "good coding".  It ain't the coding I don't like, it is the use it is put to.

Search back for the last post I made on the general AH forum, or AGW, and you will see that from the day I cancelled my ($9.99) account, I haven't talked about the games features, bugs, etc.

I reserve the right to talk about it in past tense, as to why I did not like it, and thus quit, but you do not see me slamming the code, just the direction the game has taken.

It is a great game(AH), just not for me.

I am lucky that WW2ol works for me, and while I do not fail to realize it's shortcomings, nor do I dismiss them, I can see what it will become, and give them my support in hope that it will evolve into an actual VB.

Mainly, though, I have a blast in it, RIGHT NOW.  What else could anyone ask for from a game?

So, given that I and thousands of others can and do run the game, how can you explain that you can't make it run?

Lizking

ps-Creamy, does it bother you that I have a diagram showing my system, and that instead of repeating the specs, I link it?

You are a sick little boy.

"..Actually, it is not user configuration PROBLEMS, it is user configuration, PERIOD...".

From your comments, you seem to be suggesting that most of the problems with WWIIOnline are not CRS's fault, but instead the user/PC.  You might want to let CRS know, I'm sure it would be huge relief to them.     :)

A couple snippets for you from CRS support pages:

"...The status_access_violation is a crash, or CTD.

The other errors are variations of CTHL....

We are fighting with a couple of stubborn CTDs in 120. Some bad indexing methinks. We have some clues though. There is no telling how long a search for a CTD can take, sometimes it’s an hour, sometimes it’s a couple of days...".

You also seem to suggest since WWIIOnline works on your PC and thousands of others, it must be a user/PC problem if it doesn't work.  I'm sure a lot of people in the software support industry would like to use that logic.  "Sorry sir...it works on my PC, it must be a problem with your PC.  Bye Bye".

You don't work in the computer/software industry do you?   :)

I think WWII Online should be thankfull that so many people have CTDs.  If they didn't.. they'd be playing the game and have even more to complain about.

That's the first accurate thing you've said in this entire thread.

I bought it.. and I won't play it anymore.. at least not for a long while until some major improvements come along.

Damn I love to watch someone so insistant that they were right about how a game would be, that they are truly blinded to how it actually turned out.

the game isnt ready yet.

the ground portion is close. i get good fps on the ground, still sucks in the air. when they get supply working on the ground, and a single persistant server, then the game will be a good land based blitzkrieg sim and worth 10 bucks a month imo.

till then? nope. and the fms, while better in 1.20, are still killed because of stuttering with my 512mb ram. but my game performance in ground combat is nothing to complain about.

You never saw me say it would be good until I played it, and I guess sarcasm is lost on you, my friend.

It is better than I expected, because I didn't believe the hype.

Better than you expected, but still missing all of it's key features listed on the box....

Jebus, what the hell did you expect to find in the box? A little note that said "I.O.U"?

Well, I have been following it for 2 years, and from what I saw in screenshots and what they (wouldn't) say, plus some little birdies, I didn't really bother reading the box.

i'm surprised there's this much emotion about it. i sign on now and then and it's not that bad.

in fact i find more furballs these days and the ground action is kinda fun. it is far from perfect but i guess i didnt expect that much.

it matters how much you were involved in the wait i guess. its no big deal just a little diversion  :)

I spawned in as Pz38t at the Haybes Army Base.  A soldier was there, and after a short discussion of the plan, he jumped on and we rolled out.  The situation was a bunch of enemy tanks, with infantry support, moving up the river road to Haybes from Revin.  We had an armored force in the town proper, and 109s waged war with the French and British airmen above us.

He and I took the long way, climbing the hills south of Haybes, heading for the overlook above Revin.  Hearing enemy motors, I stoped and killed the engine, while Psycodad jumped off and ran ahead to the crest of the hill.

He spotted the enemy tanks, 3 of them, advancing down the river road, 2 on this side and one on the other. I backed away from the ridgeline and waited for his word that they were past.

I rolled it up to the ridgeline and fired down on them from their 4 o'clk position.  The range was farther than I would like, and although I was hitting them, they did not slow down a lot.

The one across the river finally spotted me and began firing; I lost the gunner and the loader before I could reverse the engine and back over the crest.  I headed for the barn, fast as possible, and made it about the same time that the Psycodad did(score-2 damaged Chars).

We respawned, me as an HT, he as an 88 to go and finish off the Chars, but I discoed.

So, you tell me, does it work?

...but I discoed.

A fitting epitaph.

Give it six months - it might be quite good then.
