I used to make two liter bottles explode when I was a kid but did it a little differently. They make quite a satisfying noise and jump pretty high too
I actually witnessed a 32 gallon steel garbage can (well, Tin, you know what I mean) explode, rip at the seam, and elevate 15 feet into the air when co-worker had done this with one of those big XX liter bottles, a cup of water, and dry ice pellets. The bad news is...the garbage can was full of food since we'd just had a potluck. Happend out on the loading dock, and it certainly had the fire dept out there within 5 minutes...funnier than hell watching this guy try to clean up food spread over a 100 sq. ft area as fast as he could. He didn't lose his job, but he could have....he kept denying that he'd done it.
Be very careful, those things are dangerous. The cap could put an eye out easily.
