I agree with Lute. "Threat" is alot more than just which plane turns better, or has cannons. If the planes are fairly close to each other, and break into different directions, I go for the faster plane first. Kill it, extend out, then set up the fight with the other one how I want it (if the other pilot lets me that is). If there's plenty of separation, I might go for the twisty/turny plane first, just to eliminate a low/slow threat, and then try to setup a fight with the other guy. But usually the fast plane is the bigger threat, because he can use his speed to dictate the fight once I've given up my alt advantage.
