i tend to focus on the faster of the two planes, the slower one can't run from me.

i used to like to go after the hurri / 202 or whatever, because there's a chance it would be a good pilot, and would be a challange. always good to shoot down someone better than you ;) :aok

I have never considered eny when picking targets.   I would go along with what  RTSigma, SFCHONDO, Saxman, and Schatzi said.   Deal with the greater threat first.  Probably my first pass I would try to B&Z the LA and keep an eye on the hurri,  keeping as much alt as I can, after that it would depend on what I was flying

Because you think that the high eny kill may be an easier kill opposed to the low eny?  Do you ever follow patterns when in this situation? or is it simply case by case, and you choose the airplane you can exploit with the advantages of the bird your in???

Firstly, forget about perkies.  Tha plan is to kill and not get killed.

Secondly, the Gay7 is the 1 to kill first because the Hurri 1 will tie you in knots bleeding your "E" on every turn whilst the no skill gay7 rider lines you up for his best ever HO.

Thirdly, kill the Hurri 1 in a B&Z fashion.  Dominate the fight and get that hurri "E" out and on his arse.

Fourthly, go land 2 kills

All other factors being equal this is what you do:

1) If in a speed plane kill the fastest plane first, it's the greatest threat, a slow plane is more or less at your mercy, totally unable to gain any kind of initiative over you. You can engage and dis-engage him at will whenever you please.

2) If in a turning plane kill the most manueverable plane first, this plane poses the most serious threat to you, if your SA is kept up you should be able to avoid the faster plane with ease and turn the tables on him almost at will unless he runs.

The whole ENY thingy is just icing on the cake. Faced with 2 similiar planes, sure why not kill the one that's worth the most perks first, but that is usually not the deciding factor when engaging anything other than perk planes...

I agree with Lute.  "Threat" is alot more than just which plane turns better, or has cannons.  If the planes are fairly close to each other, and break into different directions, I go for the faster plane first.  Kill it, extend out, then set up the fight with the other one how I want it (if the other pilot lets me that is).  If there's plenty of separation, I might go for the twisty/turny plane first, just to eliminate a low/slow threat, and then try to setup a fight with the other guy.  But usually the fast plane is the bigger threat, because he can use his speed to dictate the fight once I've given up my alt advantage.

Wow, you mean there are those who THINK about stuff like this??:huh

If I thought about it, I would end up in analysis paralysis quickly and not notice the 20K rookunaut diving on my six.

So, charge them both, and whoever I get to first gets shot at.

By the way, don't assume a low eny plane means high skilled pilot.  I like LA-5s and 109G-2s, and I stink.  But by doing this, I can delude myself into thinking everyone who kills me is just in a better plane.

The biggest threat dies first.  Only a tardling score potato goes for the easy kill and then runs away.  Same thing as going for vulches when there are 20 planes in the air to kill.  If you take out the better planes first, the weaker ones will be a reward for you, and you'll end up getting more kills in the end.

like most have said, biggest threat first...which to me means, the one that will give the plane im in the most trouble once 1vs1.

All other things being equal (and many times not), I go after more-popular planes La-7's, Spit 16's, etc. first -- especially La's and Spits.  I sometimes leave less-popular planes (like P-40's, Bf 109E-4's, etc.) to last.

This doesn't have as much to do with the ENY rating of a plane, but has to do with the fact that I am a contrarian and like to do my part in combating the La-7/Spit 16 herd.

Personally, I would just auger right away because with my luck, a cv gunner in another sector will kill me soon, or the ack from a base half a sector away will kill me any second.

i hardly think the plane model is the threat..i would make a few passes and judge their behavior waiting for one to make a critical mistake.. i can tell pretty quick who has any skill...with 5k alt i can pick them off..if any ran to get alt i would kill who was left first keeping a close eye on the others...watching a few of their wingys die makes them very careful and defensive, which plays into my offense giving me the advantage...thats my theoretical answer..however since i have little patience i would kill as fast as possible one or two before bleeding my e and than try and outturn the others before my inevitable ho'ram death :D

They mean the really "bad" planes....no cannon, etc. that sort of thing.
