The F8F-1 was the first aircraft finished, and the closest to have been deployed.  VF-19 had taken delivery but was not finished with the familiarization in type by the end of the war.  The F8F-1 (765 produced) had 4 .50 cals.  That is all, follow up aircraft, ie, the F8F-1B had 4 20's, but only 100 were produced.  THe next major version, the F8F-2 was equipped standard with 20mm's, but suffered from the additional weight in armour, and associated techs, that made the aircraft heavier, and less maneuverable.  Every pilot I have ever talked to, liked the -1 more so than the -2.

Seems to me the Bearcat meets "deployed" criteria. Langley departed San Fran with an operational VF-19 before the war ended.

The Bearcat doesn't meet "engaged in WW2 combat" criteria, however.

no plane should be included in AH that did not come withen engagement range of an armed enemy, and spys in pearl harbor dont count.


we dont need no almost rans in AH.

And you people who ask for almost rans should also realize, it wont only be you flying the thing every other lemming in the MA will be too.
