There are many pros & cons to this stick. I have one and like it but it's taken some getting used to. Bottom line: if you're married to the idea of a twisty stick for rudder input, buy it. A full CH stick, throttle and ped set-up will set you back at least $250 - twice the cost of the X52. Most folks swear by peds for rudder control. CH makes great, long lasting gear.

If you do buy the X52, get it from Best Buy and purchase the relacement warranty policy. JIC

I have a twisty stick (MS PP1) and a couple days ago I got a MS wheel + pedals for free so I gave it a go in AH. Turns out that the pedals plugged straight in and work like a charm in AH.

But having used to the twisty stick.. :(

WEIRD is the word. I find that I have to relearn playing, now I have to concentrate on using my legs for rudder input and that takes away from combat ability.

I hope it's only transitional.

Donīt worry, it is transitional. I recently aquired some decent pedals. It took me about 2-3 days of flying to fully switch to them. Since, i am using rudder MUCH more than before, especially while aiming. Managed to get some snapshots that had been impossible without using rudder. My hit percentage improved about 50% (lousy 5% to barely acceptable 7.5% ;) )

Back on topic: Some time ago i was searching for a new stick. I had to decide wether i would get a X52 or a X45. I finally went for a used X45, as i did not want a twisty stick again (had several cyborgs before). The rudder control via rocker worked much better for me. No more accidental movement of other axis while twisting the stick. But a X52 is in no way a bad stick, i think.

Went from 45 to 52 not long ago, and love it. The 45 had very stiff spring that caused me to have nothing/nothing/big jump movements in the center - the 52 is silky smooth and very sensitive.

I use pedals because I twist accidentally all the time with twisty -- and I found the rocker on the 45 to be all or nothing, too hard for fine control.

HOWEVER....I really recommend the extended warranty. I've had 2-3 X45s and 2 X52s in the last 18 months. The first X52 I took home lost its up on hat #1 in a week. The others went when a hot got spotty, and since i had teh warrantee i just popped the stick in for replacement-- coulda lived with it if i had to.

I absolutely LOVE the 52, and the second one has been fine for the month I've had it. My hit% jumped about 30%, (but the 45 may have been hindering me mmore than the 54 helped me).

X52...you can disable the twisty motion should you get pedals. It's smooth and lots of options.

Do get the warranty. Only makes sense to have a backup plan for much less than a new stick would cost outright.
