yes it allows you to program your stick's buttons and download them to the stick......then any GP to USB adapter should work fine.................
or as S2A mentioned and install a cheap SB PCI 128 or 512 sound card ( if trying to save money )
as for midi/gameports - I a week or 2 back was thinking I was having problems with getting a CH analog pro throttle to work, in trying to figure it out, I reinstalled the on-board midi/gameport to this ASUS ASN whatever Deluxe MB, it was very spikey, so I installed an old PCI SB512 sound card, it was jittery/spikey as well but not as bad, I reverted back to the USB adapter and it was smooth as silk......

edited: I am thinking it will let you program with out any problems, last time I read thru it , at first it was for fighter stick only, but he updated it supposedly to include the combat stick as well, since it is almost identical to the fighter stick with a couple of hats removed being only difference between the 2.....so don't hold me to YES IT WILL, it is worth the try though..........
