Not that I have any idea what I am speaking about here....... but here is what I think........

There is a natural progression for players in this as well as any other game.  Players go through a natural cycle..... Birth, Life and then finally Death.  The time frame for this to take place is different for everyone.  I made it around 4-5 years before I finally came to grips with the fact that the game was dead for me.  I think the players personality type has alot to do with how long it takes for perminate burn out to take hold.  I for one am (at times anyway) wound fairly tight so I didnt last as long as others.......

The point is that the number of players who leave AH is most likley fairly stable.  In the 5 years that I have been here I do not recall any mass Exodus.

How many new players come to AH is a reflection on how well HTC promotes thier product.

As to your original comment though I must say that I recently saw something that caught my attention with regards to Aces High.  After moving to Falcon 4 from AH I began to read SimHQ forums and articles.  For those who dont know about SimHQ you should..... check it out   http://www.simhq.com/

They recently had a "Best of 2005" thingy going (I am to lazy to find the link right now) and they had a "best online gameplay" category.  AH didnt even make the list.  Hmmmm.....  Make your own judgements here.....

FWIW,  Falcon4 AF won the flight sim of the year title beating out Lock On FLamming Clifs.

I did hear that WW2OL has the mostest absolute bestest strateegery though. If you like that kind of thing, you might want to check it out.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

AH doesn't need any saving. There is nothing wrong with the game, it is a niche game that has a very stable gaming population and subscriber base.  But you're just a kid fresh out of Jr. High and really know nothing about the gaming industry, so it's really not surprising you don't really understand the business side of the MMOG world.  Have fun in WW2OL, I'm sure the game is more your speed.

Guys! Dont be too harsch with the dweeb, the last three TODS he flew he had miserable results.
He probably HAD to switch to WW2OL, with easier FMs and less skilled online pilots.
Try to UNDERSTAND! :D

I have WWIIOL and Aces High.

WWIIOL is what it says on the tin - a world war 2 simulation.  If you like "immersion" (being bored for long periods of time pretending you are a RL tanker in your waffen ss uniform) then play it - I say tanker because the aircraft are not worth a damn compared to ah.

If you want a fun air war with a great community then play AH.  They are different games for different moods.

p.s. the Tiger in wwiiol is friggen incredible... PEOWWWWW!
