I was long distance too, $6 hr for GEnie and $7 hr for the LD, so I paid an hour basically what I pay for an entire month of AH. :)

LOL exactly.  It was such a cool experiance after playing Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe , Aces of the Pacific , Aces over Europe, and other sims. To actually be able to fight other people on-line was unbelievable. I was hooked , but had to give it up until 1997 when I started playing Warbirds.

I think my AW number back in 93 was 3486, my handle was Jager. I was in JG3 with Drum for a bit before I had to quit. Then my first day in Warbirds I run into Drum, and his new squad JG51. I finnally made it to AH in 2001. Flying these planes on-line has always been a blast no matter what the sim. They just keep getting better.:aok  Too bad my eyesight, and hand eye coordination doesn't upgrade too.;)

Not to mention the people who'd sign on at the end of a campaign during prime time ($12/hr!!!!!!) to milk-run for extra points.

I really wish I still had screens of old Mac AW ... it was so totally stone age compared to what we have now.

I don't have the update patch installed, I haven't found the CD it's on yet LOL, I wonder if there's anything in that patch?

Brooke download and extract to win system32 folder "WinG32" and change to 256 colors and it should run. I still havent figured out the joystick yet but I bet its just a game port driver.

I have the box versions of AW4W and AWII.  Have the CDs and sleeves from AWIII and AWMV.  That and a hard drive full of films, manuals and extra junk from my last year or so.

I've loaded SVGA DOS 1.5, AW II  and AW III on my XP Pro box here.

 I've got an X-45 setup.

For AW II I selected FLCS and TM WCS II. I loaded a default basic
profile into the X-45 and it worked fine. The throttle is seen OK and
the rudder maps to the rocker.

For AW III, I selected X-35F and X-35T and used the simple profile
on my X-45. Again, everything worked OK. I only programmed a few
functions into the profile... ";" for gear toggle, "7" for WEP, "b" for
 bomb release.
I set the #1 hat to "buttons" and programmed the view swithes using
 the keypad 4,8,6,2, 5, 4+8, 6+8 , etc.

I haven't tried getting the DOS SVGA running with the X-45 yet but I did
fly a mission with the mouse.

I also had a look at a few of my films from years gone by. I have one
from 1993 featuring HT but haven't watched that one yet :)

Of all the things in AW that I miss the most, it's the film and screen shots of the "last day"

Some former CM who will go unamed at this point (Blesk you moke lol) gave out privs to anyone he could find and were wreaking havoc on the masses as others tried to have a final flight lol   was nuts.  I remember Flossy, Culero, Spiffy and I, among a few others spending a great deal of time searching players privs and removing them instead of flying the last day If memory serves lol

Had a Europe and a US massive Good By Flight over the course of the final day and a hard drive failure a couple of years ago tossed the files.

I still have about a dozen scenario patches stored away somewhere, a Gamestorm Hat, Tshirt, Computer Repair Tool Kit, and a few other pieces of memorabelia laying around.  I've still got the Gamestorm CD and MV on cd.
ROC
Nothing clever here.  Please, move along.

Oh, and my Airwarrior hat.  I got that after that sad attempt at an air race with the Dago Red guy.  If DOSE had any hair left, he pulled it out that night.  Was alot of fun though.  :)

Names? AW had tail numbers a lot longer than it had CPID's.
