Now Vista was easy to install but ........it took 3 hrs to install itself ..
It only missed one driver (sound) but that was simple .. it askedfor and grabbed it right off my master MB disc...

It also set the sound excelleration  at 3/4's (right where this pc likes it)

now as u see i/m running a baseline lower end pc  1.3 ghz gf 2 mx400 64mb

now AH2 installed right in ... and fired right up .. the only thing was when i put it online i ended up with a "allow firewall ? box " underneath

its currently running the 56.73 drivers (it installed these ) everything looks ok in ah ...

one problem ... is keyboard map is different then the default in ah

the ` key for expanding the text didnt work .. and something else ... i had to remap that key ..

so this may be a future problem ..

Video settings in AH as of currently.

video.cfg

Heh so he 'awarded' you by placing your computer and data at risk running a beta OS? :D Not to mention that your soul now belongs to them after you signed that EULA. I bet they know already your wifes cupsize.

Microsoft are touting Vista as the most secure OS they will have released up to now.
Now doesn't that make you feel safe :) .

1st its a spare PC ... I'd never run a beta OS on my Gamer

as for the EULA and other things there still not added into this yet

O4 - Global Startup: IDW Logging Tool.lnk = ?
O4 - Global AltStartup: IDW Logging Tool.lnk = ?

I need to modify its cache /swap file amounts as for at the moment it pauses while running videos and while getting files open and loaded . and after adding a second Hard drive the swaping of info there is alot slower and gets no response sometimes.

AH still works good though .

Here's some web sites not related to MS about Vista
http://www.bentuser.com/article.aspx?ID=332&page=1

http://www.edbott.com/weblog/?cat=20

http://www.edbott.com/weblog/?p=1221

MS also has has a fair amount of info about vista along with beta user blogs.

So far it looks like a nice "theme" skin for XP. What are the benefits? Aside from that DEP checkbox (not sure if that's in XP or not)

Roscoroo I was under the impression that 512mb wouldn't be enough for Vista to begin with. The problem most likely lies there.

I'm not shure yet if 512 ram isnt enough for this OS, but if it isnt  then its gonna really pissoff the masses .. its mostly us gammers that have tons of ram ..
the avg user/workstation doesnt.

They recommend 256 min in ram  , and suggested testing w/ 512 .

My system resourse monitor shows it running under 50% most of the time.

The DEP is part of the new protection program built in ..its not really finished yet

this is also the 32bit cpu version .. I'm NOT going to even think about testing the 64bit version on my 64bit machine.(i couldnt load it anyway it has no Sata or scsi  support built in yet )

So, in a nutshell, why would I even consider upgrading from XP Pro to this new version, "Vista"?

Because XP Home support ends this year and MS will force you to update.

Slowly but surely they'll figure out ways to make old XP's useless. New DRM schemes being one of them.

Even if private users won't migrate just like that corporations flee OS's like rats sinking vessels when support gets cut. Even if it doesn't even affect the business in any way.
