WB's Axis/Allies arena revisited

Actually, it would shortsighted to describe the new WarBirds arena as a success just yet. There's a good quote in the movie Pulp Fiction about celebrating success before you've actually succeeded. Give it two or three months and then come back and punt this topic.

Well, I am brave, even though I don't fly the arena too much.

It has to be considered a success, simply because the MA is still there and set up as it always was, yet everyone flys in the WWIIarena.

There are a lot of suggestions, squeaking and controversy, sure, but I would only be worried if there was NOT.

The fact remains that it is an arena that was set up at player request and changes are made to it on the basis of player requests, and nothing is ruled out as far as being tried.

What else could you ask for?

edit, I wanted to try out the spell check, but it is too slow.  It is faster to just copy/paste into a junk email message and check it.

Yikes Liz,
Cabby's email and the majority of the responses imply the opposite.

Having said that, I do support some sort of HA.

I don't really think your point of view is representative of most WBers Gadfly.  The WWII arena has always had it's detractors,  but recently even most of it's original supporters have seemed to sour on it...at least if you listen to the opinions voiced on AGW.  The following thread is a good example: http://agw.dogfighter.com/agw//Forum3/HTML/015447.html

"It has to be considered a success..."

rofl.  One look at AGW and it shows you're of the very small minority with that opinion.

Hate to say it (not really) but Cabby gave me sh&t here, in the AH ubb (off topic forumn?) about three-four months ago and all I can say is...... I told you so.

Well, boys, don't look at the piss and moaners;  look at the iLZ.  Say what they will, there is no one in the main, everyone is in the WWIIarena.

Repeat:  The MA is there, wide open like it always was, but there is no one there.

Define it like you like, but the bottom line is that is where they fly, the WWII arena, of their own free choice.

I think the WWIIA arena is a big success for AH.  I think is has been a very good recruitment device for AH.

Lizking, I'm not so sure that just looking at the ILz numbers in the WWII Arena versus the MA in WB's is an indication of success.

Mostly thats because people tend to gravitate towards the "Critical Mass" of players. The old herd mentality.

Just like I don't think by reading AGW alone shows that it is a failure.

All I know is that even some of the WWII Arena's biggest proponents (for example, Daddy's post the other day, or Jedi's) are starting to back away from the concept.

But you can definitely tell that the "honeymoon period" has worn off, and people are starting gravitate towards one extreme camp or the other.

Personally I think it is too soon to tell.
