How do you think these mechanics felt after letting one get away from them? This happened Tuesday.(Creamo comes to mind...     )

Uh oh.....
My guess is someone is looking a new job....

Couple weeks ago one of our company's driver droved his 25 meter truck under a bridge... He noticed too late that his truck was little too tall

1776,  it was scored as 'mechnic/ground pilot being towed exited A/C and found nearest rest-room", so that would be a ditch...

Kinda thought that would be a ditch, but looks like a 1/2 ditch though.

Hey, Hang,bet those aren't P-51 wing spars.

Heh, if you think thats a goof up, let me remind you that the military (US of course... goof troops!) holds the guiness record on it.

During the Cold War a set of crewmen let a jet loaded with an atomic bomb ROLL OFF a carrier. There are pictures and even a film of it... mechanics and orange suits run away from the plane as it flips over the side (hehe.. that's one bewm they wont run from! hilarious).

One thing I've learned in all the years around aviation....

"Don't jump to conclusions"

This may have been a world-class screwup.

Or, the tow bar may have broken during pushback or something similar.

I've had that happen to me...nice smooth push and BAM! all of a sudden you are freewheeling across the ramp with no nose wheel steering (bypassed for push). If you slam on the brakes while going backwards, you sit the aircraft down on its tail.

So, you very gently brake and use differential braking to steer. You're going backward and can't see aft so you sort of guess what's behind you by seeing what's going past in front of you.

It keeps things interesting.

It's also better to be lucky than to be good.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

Toad has it right.

Very cool photos don't tell the whole story. (thank you for the photos Rip)

More than once I have seen 5 line guys running like the devil himself were after them, chasing down a runaway airplane. Only to find that the old tow bar should have been replaced last year.

BTW: See the cool B.Y.T (big yell'er truck) at the right of the 2nd photo? That's my second vehicle here at COU.

Thats a good one- and ironically back in my commuter days the exact aircraft make (SAAB 340B) that we lost hydraulics on and smashed into a blast fence. (good thing to, only other option was straight into a NW 727.)

If we did that now in the 777, there would be hell to pay. I think they are 128 million apiece.

I say it was pilots, as we all know they just push "autopilot" and then wrap with the Aisle Donkeys all flight about how dashing they are. heh Mechanics are way to smart to ever make a mistake.

Not sure about the 777 but I think price is closer to 200 million each something t=like 185 or so cant remember but everyone here at work calls them the 200 million dollar plane.
