We have 1 engined planes, 2 engined planes, and 4 engined planes.

Historically the engines were numbered (for 1+ planes) port side first then in order going to starboard side.

P38 for example has #1 on port #2 on starboard.

B17 for example has #'s 1 & 2 on port (outboard, inboard) and #'s 3 & 4 on starboard (inboard, outboard).

I was thinking about some folks that have dual throttles or dual setups for twin-engined planes. Specifically I was thinking of some setups described for use with the P38 (on these forums). I recall wondering how the heck these folks would ever be able to fly a bomber without a lot of remapping of axes on their inputs.

How about an optional checkbox in the hardware setup that says "switch to port/starboard for 4 engines?" so that your throttle1 now works on eng 1/2 and throttle2 works on eng 3/4?

Same for RPM settings.

you can already do it. just set multiple throttles to the same slider in joystick setup

does that work? I've tried doing it and the 2-3-4 engines never seem to take the commands.

This is for RPM anyway, I use one of the thumb-wheels on my Cougar and every time I try to set it up, it will still only control the RPM for engine #1.

The saitek x52 has six "T" buttons that can be set-up for engine control as well as a slider on the throttle that can be used for RPM control I use these to effectively manage engines in multiple engined planes.

When you set the rpm to your thumb wheel set all the rpms to the same thumb wheel then they will all vary together.....................

Krusties problem is not so easily solved............... The rpm to slider set up is done in "Joystick settings" these are not switchable between "modes" as for example key map or joystick map are hence what you set............. you get.

Numbering the engines

port inner = 1
Starbd inner = 2
port outer = 3
starbd outer = 4

Would solve Krusties problem however

You know, ages ago I threw out my Wingman.... Wish I hadn't... I'd just plug it in and use that throttle for rpm or some junk.

Hindsight, and all that.

If I were ambitious I'd buy a cheap-o MS Prec Pro sidewinder and gut both sticks, try to put the sidewinder parts inside the wingman.

Not that I'm all that savvy with this sort of thing. I'm no Roscoroo when it comes to making my own stuff. But had I the stick, it'd not be worth actually using (lol).

If I can't afford a $150.00 set of CH Pro Peds, I sure can't afford a $200.00 set of CH Pro 4-engine throttles!!
